Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I've got a cabin with a wood burn furnace and it keeps things very toasty. But that same cabin is unbearable during the summer.

What does that have to do with anything?
Imagine two scenarios same cabin.
One cabin is in Chicago in the dead of winter. -15 degrees out no source of heat.
One cabin is located in the south of LA in the middle of August, no a/c.
Which cabin do you think you could last longer in? You'd be uncomfortable in either, of course, but which do you think you would last longer in?
The answer is, obviously, the southern cabin.

A lot of places up north will rent window AC units to their tenants during the summer. Even when I was living in Indianapolis which isnt that far north, that was common. And many schools don't have AC at all since they arent in use during the hottest months of the year.

Man invented fire long before AC. If you don't know how to layer up you will die in winter. That's a basic survival technique. When your AC goes out in the south people die on the side of interstates trying to evacuate from hurricanes.

Depends how north and south you're talking here. If you're talking like Canada vs Vietnam or something it's a lot different than like Minnesota vs Louisiana
I think logically living in the north without heat is probably tougher in terms of danger to your life and stuff, but living in the south without a/c is probably more miserable in terms of just the general life experience.

Almost all deaths from hurricane cane rita in 2005 were due to heat exhaustion on the interstate. Which supports the theory that you pansies can't survive without AC.

Are we talking being uncomfortable or survival? Unless you are elderly with health issues the heat is probably not going to kill you if you have water and shade from the sun. Zero degree weather is less forgiving.

It has felt like the south up here for a week. 90s and crazy humid.
