Talking about the US here. I was reading something about landlord tenant law and they said that most landlords are required to provide heat but not so for AC. I thought that sounded crazy. I think living in the South without AC would be much tougher.

South without A/C.

Any building without heat up here (which there aren't many) will have fireplaces and furnaces.

Edit: Although if by "no heat" you mean literally no form of heating and not just a central heating system, then yeah, the north in the winter would be much worse.

I would rather live in the north with no central heat than live in the south with no AC

South without AC would suck more. As long as I can wear warm clothes & have a fireplace, I’d be fine up north. A week without AC after a hurricane makes me want to die.

Screw the North without heat. Suffering through sub zero weather without heat is hell compared to 100 without AC.

Don't think it's particularly close either. Plenty of people live in hot climates without AC. Living in the north without heat might kill you.

For me, it would be the North, without a doubt. I hate being cold. I can stand the summer heat.

I can cover up with a blanket and build a fire.

I can't build a condenser and catch freon.

You have the ability to make yourself warmer. You can't cool your internal body temperature. No heat in the north by a mile.

You can find shade. You can find a body of water to cool off in.

I can cover up with blankets. See how long you last with the AC in the summer or spring for that matter in the south.

Heat with no ac is uncomfortable.

Freezing with no heat will kill you.

People lived in the South for thousands of years without AC

No one lived in the North without some form of heat

Therefore the toughest has to be living up North with no heat

I would survive the summer in the South, maybe uncomfortably, but I could survive

I might not survive being frozen
