That is a great question. Drones as a part of the security detail at any large rally would be very inexpensive and offer a great view of all potential threat spots, including places not visible from the ground.

I don't think he just started spraying.
I think he hurried to get rounds off after the initial, nerves and adrenaline went through the roof, and he simply didn't have the training/capacity to control himself and focus, therefore sending off-target rounds down range.
I do not believe that he just started firing into the crowd on purpose.

I think this is being said primarily about the immediate reaction of the SS closest to Trump where they jumped on him as quickly as humanly possible and put themselves in between Trump and anything coming his way without thinking. I know it’s their job, but still it takes an incredible person to willingly do that.

If I’m Trump, I’m dumping the whole secret service as soon as I’m elected and rolling with Tier 1 Operators instead. I don’t care what branch. We do a better job protecting tribal leaders in Afghanistan than the secret service did last night.

I just can't wrap my head around it. It's not like they thought this venue had zero security weak points. They had snipers on rooftops for crying out loud. I would say that's maxed out security.
