Watched two millennials try and mop up a big mess of spilled drinks at Walkons before the LSU Kentucky basketball game the other night. One had a squeegee and the other small towel. They were lost on what to do. Took them forever and was all up in everyone's way. A simple mop and bucket would have took care of the job in no time and completely out of everyone's way. Tools for the job seems to confuse them
Maybe they just wanted to go above and beyond to do a really good job and make it better than they left it, instead of half-assing it by just sloshing a wet mop around and then creating a slipping hazard for people like TDSngumbo to walk in and slip on it.

I think an issue with many young people today is they spend all this time spinning at windmills and not enough time doing. Doing something, anything, is usually better than waiting for the “next big wave”.

Need you a fat west bank woman next time when you start interviewing again. She will be more eager.
This is one of the best things I’ve read on this site in awhile.
Well done.

1. Her dad probably worked decades
2. Wealth of knowledge, stupid not to tap into that.

This is the part that pisses me off the most. You are a salesmen at the point of your second interview and you are just assuming she will take the job. It is very likely that y’all gave off a shitty vibe.
What’s a 5% raise if you are going to hate your life

Been interviewing candidates for an associate position in my firm. Found a girl we liked, brought her back for a second with all the partners, and she said all the right things. We made an offer. She declined it after 3 days of "talking to her dad.". I won't get into her reasons, because they were nonsense, but it came down to (I think): change is really scary. She doesn't know what she wants or how to get there. She just knows how she feels right now, and it's different than how she felt a week ago. So we wasted a a whole lot of our time.
She'll bitch later in life because of the mythical "wage gap" as she helps people check out at walmart

Us small/solo guys don’t have this problem. Sucks to be big law, doesn’t it?

Better to waste a little of your time now than a lot of your time later
This pretty much goes for all women in all scenarios

What the frick are you babbling about? You can’t possibly know what was going on yet you assume it’s the employers fault. You’re no better than this chick who would rather emote and use feelings as tha basis for her decision. Typical of the young, entitled, job seekers today. It’s why you people don’t deserve success.

Could be fickle minded girl syndrome. Wouldn't for sure blame it on millennialism.
I’ve got no love for the stereotypical millennial, and sure do love bashing the sky screamers, but this sounds more like a XX chromosome issue.

Don't get pissed at her because you couldn't do enough to close the deal and convince her to come work for your shitty firm.

You will see her name at a competitor's firm in less than a week.

A girl? I’m assuming she’s over 18 so she’d be a woman. You’re going to get sued.

I had the perfect candidate lined up. Made the offer and he requested 3 months working remote from Europe so he could tour with his band
Posted on 1/6/18 at 11:51 am to jcliv
Well, if he was worth it, you should have gave it to him because you could build massive loyalty that way. No other firm would be willing to do that, and you could pay him less while getting better moral and production. Besides, him being in Europe could give you multiple avenues to massively expand your practice. Your firm would be able to advertise on his tour without spending a goddamn dime. You seem very closed-minded and short-sighted.

Sounds like she used your job offer as leverage to get a raise elsewhere

Unless you were hiring an admin assistant, grade school teacher, or a nurse, you shouldn’t have been interviewing a woman.
