She was probably just blowing smoke up the recruiter's arse. Find out what you'd offer and if she's as good as you say she is, she probably doesn't have to settle. There's likely something your firm is missing that she wants. Overvaluing herself is only negatively affecting you if the market pays for it...

What is her billable requirement for the year? Maybe that sucks. Maybe you will have her just doing doc review and not actually learning how to be a lawyer. Maybe the area of law sucks.

Sounds like the pay cut wasn’t “small”, her current firm made some concessions to keep her, or there was some other “poison pill” in the offer sheet that her dad found. It could have been expected bill hours, vacation days, how the retirement plan works, the health plan, how the partner process works, etc. Her father may have shown her something she didn’t catch.

Looks like ya’ll made the wrong offer.

And you picked the wrong movie to go see to get over it

which would make no sense

Just tell the recruiter or the firm that the terms are not acceptable.

Either way, applicant comes off as a bit immature.

Yet the interviewer is the one whining and insulting people on a message board. Hmmm

One thing I’ve learned from being around recent grads and students interviewing for entry level professional jobs is that many students, especially the women, do not know that they can negotiate. They assume the offer is final and not up for any haggling. They simply have no idea that there’s an option to have the unacceptable provision revised rather than having to walk away.

...or slanted by the OP's POV. She probably had reasons for turning them down. Hence her chat with dad. She just didn't share them with the recruiter. She could have had competing offers and was just waiting for the other one.

If you have time to whine on a message board, your time isn’t that valuable. She met your team, and decided you weren’t the kind of people she wanted to work for. She could be crazy, or maybe your team doesn’t represent very well.

Two things are clear. A. She didn’t want to Work there and b. OP assumed that since she took a second interview that she was taking the job, which is an awful way to interview someone. It’s arrogant.

The whole nonsense about speaking with her father is just a polite way of saying she has better options.
