Yes, the crime and poverty in the South is partly due to the large black population. But that doesn't change the fact that crime and poverty is higher in the South.
Also, I'm almost positive that the white people in Mississippi have a higher poverty rate (and probably also a higher crime rate) than the white people in something like Massachusetts, although the high black population in Mississippi does make the Mississippi/Massachusetts discrepancy even higher than it would otherwise be.

I agree!
Y’all should stay away from Nashville!
Awful city!
Pink haired liberals everywhere!
Don’t move here!

I'm confident CNBC would change their ranking, if they would spend a few weeks in that "Oasis". Memphis.

Libs think gayness = quality of life. I don’t think anyone in TN gives a shite.

I read the thread title and thought "WTF!?! I love the shite out of TN and would love to retire to the NE region."
And then I read the post.
Now I want to retire there even more.

Seriously? If so, please explain. We are looking for a lot to build there (East Tennessee- Maryville, Kodak, etc...).

Not serious at all. Love it here.
Was visiting friends in Maryville yesterday.. great area but it's growing fast. (Too fast..) Kodak is still pretty chill once you get away from all the exit 407 hullabaloo.

All those Californians and New Englanders need to ditch Tennessee for Texas imo

Yes, correct, please don't move here. The whole state is just like Memphis.

This is a shite take. It has a true 4 seasons. Lived there a long time, now I'm in East TN, which is similar, but a bit cooler.

No way does Mississippi not make the list.

Nashville traffic sucks arse, and last time I was there they had potholes that could swallow your car. Three interstates meet downtown, and it's was designed to be a "small" city that outgrew the city's design.

I mean, consider the author. She looks like she smells like cat urine.

When discussing Tennessee’s inclusiveness, CNBC cited some of the Volunteer State’s laws that target the LGBTQ+ community, including the new “bathroom law,” which requires transgender people to use restrooms designated for their sex at birth, and the state’s restriction on localities from adopting their own antidiscrimination ordinances.
Imagine thinking a state where a man can go take a piss with your little girl is a positive thing
