The downtown is surprisingly pretty nice with some cool restaurants and bars that don’t look like they belong there

one more thing…despite the criminality Hammond and ponchatoula have not yet surrendered their elected and appointed leadership to the race pimps and enablers, at least not yet. The PD in both towns is competent and committed to public safety. The town councils and mayors are still on the side of quality outcomes for civilized people. The business climate is still good and as shown in the radical improvements in both downtowns there’s a commitment to quality of life and commerce. The roads get fixed, the drainage gets maintained, the laws are unambiguously enforced

I always liked it. Close to Hammond for anything you’d need. Quiet but not too small. Easy trips to BR or Nola. Centrally located in the heart of South Louisiana.
I’d put it in my top 5 towns in LA to live.

Don’t remember names but the one on the corner of the Main Street by the train tracks has a ridiculously good chicken fried chicken with a crawfish sauce

If you have kids Albany, Holden best schools in area. I would consider Mandeville...a little pricey as you stated but a better area

Little overpriced for the area. Getting alot of people coming from NOLA in there and first time home buyers. Built by DR Horton in the whole mold scandal they have. Do all kinds of mold testing.
Fairhope right down the street is DSLD and my BIL lives in there. Nice new neighborhood.

Ponchy has Nola Mia. Best pizza in the state far and away.
+1 for Robert. Land is cheap, damn good livin and property value is and will be going through the roof as the area develops. Also close to everything.
Mande is great but has tons of negatives. Mainly,it is in St. Tammany Parish. It is busting at the seams and instead of upgrading the infrastructure and doing what it should to sustain growth, they rather make it more expensive and difficult to build, work and live in the parish. Really sucks honestly.
Drive up and down 59 on a Tuesday morning or Friday afternoon before thinking you could love living here. Lol.

Been there once. Ponchatoula Pub had $1.50 Busch Lites. Highly recommend. Got nothing for you other than that!
