The downtown is surprisingly pretty nice with some cool restaurants and bars that don’t look like they belong there

Is Ponchatoula still all about the antique stores?

Hammond is a great little town

Spoken like someone who went to college there 30 years ago and hasn’t been back. Place is nothing but strip malls now and ghetto as hell. It will look like Laplace in 10 years.

Problem with property crime in Belle Foret?

Been in there for 5 years now and never once had an issue or heard about any issues.

You may love it but to call it a “great little town” is certainly a stretch. Per capita it’s got one of the highest crime rates in the state. I’m sure there are good parts, but I personally would never want to encourage someone to move to a city that’s clearly on a downward trajectory.

No doubt
I grew up in Ponchatoula and live right outside the city limits of Hammond close to the airport. There’s a lot of worse places to live. Hammond/Ponchy area has a lot of good things going

We have an office downtown, so I enjoy being there a few days a month.

That is all of my experience though

Buy outside the city limits. Inside has high taxes.

Location Sales Tax Rate
Inside City Limits 10.50%
Outside City Limits 8.50%."

very noble of you. But you don’t know what trajectory it is on because you don’t live there. You are talking out of your arse

You talking about the same Mandeville where the police officer was gunned down a few years ago at a traffic stop? That Mandeville?

nobody is saying it will. Your strawman is noted however.

Hammond and ponchatoula are both nice places to live without many of the headaches associated with the suburban sprawl and congestion of Mandeville. I grew up in Mandeville and later lived there for ten years. I would not trade places with you

The usual suspects might have problems amongst themselves. However, for normal people that area of Tangipahoa Parish is pretty nice compared to areas too the south and west.
