The area is good. Good location you have Ponchatoula the west on hwy 22 Hammond is to the north west. Madisonville, Mandeville and Covington to the east. Be careful where you look some spots will have flooding issues at times. Cypress Reserve has no issue there to my knowledge.
You do you but don't just look in subdivisions. You can find some real nice places outside of them and you won't to deal with a HOA. It seems like when there are issues like car break ins and stuff like that around here it is always in a subdivision. Seldom does it happen with ppl with a few acres. You are off the road and these young punks look for areas with lots of houses.

The good thing about Ponchatoula is the city itself can't really grow as far as the boundary. It may someday go out as far as PHS but that will it.

Thats where I live. Moved here a few years ago from the Metairie area, and love every bit of it. 10 minutes from literally everything I need, and no traffic like they have in the Mandeville/Covington area.

I grew up in Hammond right near Ponchatoula. I still have tons of family and friends who still live there. I believe it to be safe and rather convenient to hop on the interstate to tons of bigger cities
Not sure about school districts but Southeastern has become a pretty nice college campus.

if the job is a long term deal and you won’t have to move unless you want to, find you a nice piece of property. Something with easy access to get in and out that you can have some privacy on. You won’t want to leave

+1 for Robert. Land is cheap, damn good livin and property value is and will be going through the roof as the area develops. Also close to everything.
Mande is great but has tons of negatives. Mainly,it is in St. Tammany Parish. It is busting at the seams and instead of upgrading the infrastructure and doing what it should to sustain growth, they rather make it more expensive and difficult to build, work and live in the parish. Really sucks honestly.
Drive up and down 59 on a Tuesday morning or Friday afternoon before thinking you could love living here. Lol.
Did you seriously just make a case that Covington/Mandeville is a worse place to live than Robert or Ponchatoula?
Also why would a person working in Hammond have to deal with 59?

Hammond is a great little town. northshore has a lot of great places to live. could look for some acreage north.
