Starting in 23 they went with the turbo 4. Get you a 22 model and the thing will run forever. The AWD models are surprisingly competent in the snow and mud.
Coincidentally, the 22's are getting stupid money in resale for that very reason.

My wife has one, it's been reliable with over 100,000 miles on it. The only expense we've had other than oil changes has been tires and brakes.

Wife has a NX for the past six years. It’s Japanese-built, the RX was assembled in Ontario. That’s why I went with the NX for her.
Zero problems so far at 110k miles, it had a gap year during COVID where it only went 2k miles one year.
It’s replacement will be another Lexus SUV, tbd when & which model.

They’re sought after because it’s the old platform with the updated electronics. I may try to pick up a 22 or 21 with low miles within the next year before they disappear. The only downside is premium gas and shitty mileage. I don’t really care about the updated interior so a 21 might be in my future. You can find good ones in the mid-low $40’s.

They usually own a clapped-out 3 or 4 series BMW with the smallest engine available, and weird options.

The 6 cylinders do not require or recommend premium gas,
Had one for 9 years and love it

My gf bought one in May. We both really like it.
Smoother ride than her MB E300, and the insurance is half as much.
I can't think of any knocks on it, other than the price.

There going for 75-80k. I have an 07 GX much like the one you had. Mine has all kinds of options like backup camera, heated seats, auto wipers, sunroof….and all of it still works. When mine dies I’ll probably get a 460 that some old lady drove.
Insane what the costs are today. Granted, you're paying a premium for a premium vehicle --- and one that generally will last.
Many people, however, are not like you. That '07 would have been traded in a long time ago.

Own a 2021 with about 50,000 miles. Wife drives it and loves it. Our 4 kids are grown now so would not have worked 20 years ago. We had a Yukon XL for those years. You will love driving the RX. We take it on long trips and it is super comfortable.

I’ve never owned one but driven them a good bit as loaners and on a few longer trips including in the mountains. Great SUV with lots of features. Small cargo space. Decent mileage depending on the mode used. Easy to drive and park around cities.

My buddy has a hybrid model. He likes it. That being said, they seem like chick cars.

I like the new look as well. I owned a GX470 in 2003. I believe this was the first year they introduced this vehicle. What are these now going for today? I want to say I paid $52,000 in 2003. It had the Mark Levinson audio system, navigation, wood grain trim, etc. Can't recall if it had a backup camera --- or were those even a thing back then?
I’ve seen some 24s with low miles for ~65k. My wife needs a new suv soon and this might be something to look at. Yall seen the prices on new Pilot, Acadias, Highlanders?
I’ll drive them all but this looks fun as hell to drive. I’ll have to decide on spending the money on a new Pilot/Highlander or a used GX for the same price.

The RX is the best car(s) I've ever owned! I put 250K miles on my first (a 2013) and it still ran like a top. Bought 2 more after that, a 2019 and a 2023. Only reason I replaced the 2013 and the 2019 was because I wanted the newer models. Service at Lexus dealerships is unparalleled. Drive up, get a loaner - no questions asked. Bring the loaner back at your convenience.

The 03-09 Gx470 will go down as being one of the best overall vehicles of all time. I just grabbed one to make an overlander out of.
Shocked me how much these nearly 20 year old suvs were going for.
They had back up cameras in 03 and cassette decks up to 09.

You can quibble about whether they “require” it, but they certainly recommend premium gas. I’m pretty sure every Lexus does.

If you are willing to raise yourself 10k and can find one. Get the GX.

It is THE OFFICIAL car/suv of the Northshore soccer mom. Seriously, you can't go from one red light to the next without seeing three Lexus RX350s.
