If shorts are among the best clothing you have, then there's no issue. However, showing up to worship the Creator in a casual manner also demonstrates your attitude toward worship. If you don't care enough to dress accordingly, then you probably aren't there for the right reason in the first place.

Would you wear shorts to your best friend's wedding?

When I was a teenager we could get pretty sloppy in our church attire then one night over at the pastors house during a heated game of Risk church dress came up with me being on the side of casual and he said to me " would you wear your jeans and wrinkled shirt to meet the President?" Of course I knew where he was going can't say I changed immediatly in my thinking but that question always stuck, before long I started dressing better most often in a jacket and tie.

And other people have the right to say those views may be shallow, trifling, and not at all in line with biblical teachings.

If it's hot I'll wear shorts to church. I knew a priest who would say mass in shorts and sandals (under his vestment of course). I like to think that God doesn't make a huge deal out of what you wear to church as long as it's not vulgar or disrespectful.

if you think there is a dress code for church then you havent been listening to gods teachings

the only exceptions are being filthy smelly dirty and whore outfits making you think about fricking rather then praying

This.

It’s a personal sign of respect to your God and Messiah. How hard is it to dress just a little more formally.

So you go to church and then judge people which go against the Bible?

If it was cool with him, absolutely.

I think it’s much weirder when people wear suits and ties to church than when they wear shorts.

I think they’re just as dumb as anyone else that goes to church.

Has zero effect on me. I simply mind my own business and not concern myself with such trivial things.

your ignorant question tells me you don't understand Christ or God Almighty or the Church at all. You should be 10x more concerned about that than what people wear to churches.

God doesn't care one iota what men wear. He does care about what women wear. Read the New Testament. More than one or two glances. I mean read it 40x.

I learned very early on that the Orthodox take their formality seriously. I enjoy it, honestly. It feels more reverential.

I don't care what anyone else does, though. shite, there's a "Cowboy Church" off of highway 157 in N AL where I'm sure they show up in shitkickers and hats. Doesn't bother me.

Jesus wore a robe and sandles, I dont have a problem with it. Having to get dressed up to go to church is a reason a lot of people dont go. Come as you are is what I say.
