This is messed up - Two anti-violence activists gunned down in Chi town

Not your usual thug people doing thug things. These two women were part of a group advocating for stopping murders in Chicago. Why the hell would someone kill them?
They were two of 8 dead and 40 wounded over the weekend. Damn.

Chantell Grant and Andrea Stoudemire were both mothers in addition to volunteers for the group "Mothers Against Senseless Killings" that worked with other moms to thwart violence on the city's South Side.
Both were working as peacekeepers at a corner where members of the group often stood watch in the neighborhood of Englewood on Friday night when they were shot dead after someone opened fire from an SUV, according to police.
The 26-year-old Grant was a mother to three young children, while the 35-year-old Stoudemire was a mother of two. The Chicago Police Department said officers found both women down on the sidewalk after a blue SUV drove up and opened fire. A 58-year-old man suffered a graze wound. .
They were two of 8 dead and 40 wounded over the weekend. Damn.

This is what happened in Northern Ireland that finally stopped the violence. Ordinary people put themselves in the line of fire. Some of them were killed, but revulsion against the death of innocents eventually dried up support for the extremists on both sides.

Sadly, what they were doing is the start that's needed.
If honest, caring folks were to take the streets back, begin instilling right values at HOME, this is the only way it will ever get better.
No midnight basketball, no preschool programs,etc. will fix it. Must start with the family and coupled with individual neighborhood activism will turn the tables

Well you would figure they are killing to advance a robbery or a fight over drug territory or something like that. Not just blasting two women standing on a corner. For that matter, they had to know this was going to set some folks off and really bring police attention.

These kind of incidents do help turn the tide and drive support for more aggressive law enforcement and community cooperation.
I grew up in Richmond in the 90s, and that was a big part of the deal there. Most residents didn't give a shite about gang-related violence and drug dealers killing each other. When kids started getting killed, the community flipped the switch.

This is where every community changes.
Nobody really gives a shite about street thugs killing each other in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. They only care once they stray out of their neighborhoods and kill an innocent person in a “not bad” area of town.
