We could easily last a week with our "supplies"

What is annoying is people that did not prepare coming and using our resources

Before the storm I froze a ton of the large smart waters that I rotate out of the freezer when I have the generator running into the ice chests to keep stuff cold.

I came inside yesterday to find my SIL and her bf drinking two that had partially thawed in one of my ice chests because "they wanted something cold."

People are fricking idiots. Nobody needs food or shelter or electricity or gas after only 2 days. Only thing you need is water.

It's been 2 fricking days....most people in New Orleans need to go 2 fuxking weeks without eating to get into normal bmi.

I'll say it again for those in the back....you can easily go 3 or 4 days without eating unless you have a child. It's not that damn hard, especially if you are obese

After the tornado outbreak I went through and hurricanes last year, I found two weeks is what you should shoot for as the bare minimum. Sure, things will probably go a bit quicker, but they might not.

Heard some lady earlier who called into local radio and was just hammering the President of JP because she couldn’t find gas

The hosts had literally just had her one (Parish Prez) and this lady just wasn’t having it.

Clearly unprepared and frustrated, but her ignorance was good for a laugh

Walmart sells cans of chunky beef stew for like a dollar a can.

Mac and cheese in a cannfor a buck.

Easy to heat up to. Leave the metal can on the hot fricking concrete and in a few hours bon appetite.

$20 and you can eat for two weeks if need be.

You can also lean them against the engine on the generator and heat them as well if the damn sun isn't out.

This is what sets me off.

Every storm or natural disaster, I inevitably get a call from some idiot family member seeking to take some of my resources because of *insert pathetic excuse for no preparation*.

This time around I’m making them live in the misery they created for themselves.

Right, it’s not like this was an earthquake. We saw it coming. The cone was dead on from jump. We prepared and now we wait. That’s how it works.

The ridiculously long lines at fast food places makes me laugh, too. You’ll survive not eating Canes for a week.
I was in line at the store today and the people in front of me were buying cases of coke, 4 containers of Chips Ahoy, boxes of little Debbie and all other sorts of sugar junk food. Nothing but. And, of course they paid for it with a Louisiana Purchase food stamp card.

Is it really THAT hard?

- Buy an ice chest
- Fill with ice
- Buy 3 gallons of water
- Buy 2 loaves of bread
- Buy some peanut butter
- Buy some lunchmeat
- Buy a few bags of nuts and chips if you want some food variety

... I mean what else am I missing here? Sit on your couch and wait for 72 measly hours to pass

It's not so much that people are dumb these days, it's that people are so conditioned to a life of luxury and instant gratification and instant dopamine hits that they mentally can't handle a few slow days of merely surviving with no luxury that it drives them insane
