They say you need to be prepared to be "on your own" for 72 hrs after a bad hurricane hits

In full disclosure, I'm posing this from my hotel room in Texas where we evacuated to.
Everyone says that if you ride out a storm, you need to be prepared to be "on your own" for 72 hours.
We are basically at 48 hours out at this point. And the number of people I see on facebook freaking out about needing ice, food, water, gas, etc is insane. They are of course all blaming the government, FEMA sucks, etc.
I even saw one post where a guy said retail stores should have their "licenses revoked" if they don't have a generator to operate and are back running 24 hours after a storm passed.
There are some people in terrible situations right now, who needed to be rescued off of a rooftop, who had their house collapse, etc... and getting to them should be the priority.
If you can't make it 48 hours without being self-sufficient, it's a big problem.

People are useless nowadays

This is our society now. Everyone needs everything from everyone else NOW. No care of what the other people have to go through to do it and no preparation on their part to be self sufficient as much as possible.

The vast majority of the population is entirely dependent upon someone else for every aspect of their life. We see it now where we are not even two days out and people are desperate for gas, food, etc. If you didn’t prepare, you deserve to suffer.
The ridiculously long lines at fast food places makes me laugh, too. You’ll survive not eating Canes for a week.

This is another one in my "If it is anywhere close to you, always prepare as if a Major Hurricane is going hit your house" mantra.

That’s super impressive.
I’m only worried about gas, really. Just bitchy about power. I started topping off nightly Thursday, but driving to work, where I’m staying, the barn, and my house (to check for power bc the Entergy map is drunk) I’m gonna burn through a lot.

Someone called into a BR radio station yesterday whining about lack of power and ice - it hadn’t been 24 hours yet
If you can’t prepare, then leave - if you can’t do either you’re useless

Some people can’t be bothered to provide for themselves, then they complain when others don’t meet the expectations they’ve become accustomed to getting without having to work at it.
It’s a microcosm of the democrats and their welfare state.

Is Amazon delivering?

The stores need people to work in them. They are not automated. Those people are dealing with the same problems as everyone else.

So the elderly, poor, and disabled are “useless” now?

I’m glad these lazy fatties and hipsters get to sit through no AC in August.

This is like 99% of America. They can’t be uncomfortable for 5 minutes much less 72 hours.
They stayed for a category 4 hurricane, did they think it was going to be comfortable?

We did do this, but gas is very hard to come by right now in LP. 8 cans are now nearly empty. And I don't want to use too much gas driving around fruitlessly in my car in case I need to get to Lafayette, which we may be doing tomorrow.

And what were they doing for the 3-4 days they had to prepare for a disaster?
The issue is not that infrastructure isn’t back yet, it’s that people who ought to know better didn’t adequately prepare. Now they blame others for their dumb asses lack of personal responsibility.
