Sammy has more range as a singer and was a good performer in his own right but VH became a sappy ballad and bubble gum pop band when Roth left.
Grew up in the Hagar era but like both singers ....you would'nt consider both eras to be pop rock?

VH was at its best with Hagar...
Hagar: "I can't stop loving you....no matter what you say or do....
Roth: "I'm hot for teacher."
I'll take Roth every day and twice on Sunday. That goes for the solo careers too.

I love Rush, but Geddy can’t sing falsetto anymore and I can’t handle him attempting to sing using his regular voice. Sounds like a cat moaning. Music is still great, though
He really struggled during the Time Machine Tour in 2011 and he admitted it. However, he worked with a vocal coach and his singing was much better during the 40Th anniversary tour.

are the backup singers pointing and smiling as they fill in for his geriatric arse.
you make this joke but actually the crew and backup singers are the pressure for a lot of this too
i forgot who it was, but there was an artist who said basically he doesn’t need to tour, but every tour provides the salary for the roadies, lighting, sound, backup singers, extra musicians, etc….and these crews have been performing and traveling with these bands for years so they are “family” to them and they want them to have work

more like a Journey tribute band with out Steve Perry
No doubt. Perry is the essence of Journey.
Re: Frankie Valli, the videos I've seen of him recently on stage are downright tragic. It's beyond embarrassing. I don't find them funny at all. Glad he's being gently escorted off tour.

Fun fact, Roth is a paramedic and works summers in ems

Journey is playing in Houston in like November or something. Those guys must be old AF
They are indeed old AF. Saw them a couple weeks ago in Greensboro. Was a solid show, but not exactly electric.

Early Roth era I would say no but by the last couple albums they did with him maybe so.
I'm in the better with Roth camp but I don't have anything against Sammy, he was pretty solid to.

Would be ironic if he's called on to tend to someone who jumped.

David Lee Roth has been around so long that he looks more like Hyman Roth.

There is nothing pop rock about Runnin With The Devil, Unchained, Mean Street, Light Up The Sky, Ain't Talkin Bout Love....I could go on and on. I still liked VH with Sammy but they sounded just like any other rock band with him as front man. DLR brought an attitude and energy that just fit with EVH's insane guitar licks.

But YOU don’t understand. This is their farewell tour
I saw The Who during their farewell tour in Worcester, MA in 1982...
I have seen them 7 times in different tours since then.

I saw a video a year or so ago where he couldn’t even lip sync well enough to keep up with the audio. Sad seeing a legend fall like that

I saw The Stones and Paul twice and both were great. It’s a different type of singing that what type of rock came after them. Also saw Plant and he knew his limitations and it was also great. It was something different. He wasn’t trying to act and sing like he was in his 20’s.

Steve Perry left Journey decades ago

Van Halen is absolute garbage other EVH as a guitarist

Both could.

80M in record sales suggest otherwise.
