Downvote away, but the Strolling Bones need to retire.

Well, they have retired for the moment, and have publicly stated that. But you'd be hard pressed to find someone in better shape at 80 than Mick Jagger, and his vocals were still quite serviceable since they were never the main focus of a song. His vocals are better than any 80s/90s glam rock guys out there, though that's admittedly a low bar. Keith's the one that has needed to stop touring for a bit, or permanently, but for guys that are one or two years away from 80, if not 80, to get up there and play songs while strutting around all night on a stage is impressive, and they have enough accompaniment to get through it. If Keith were up to it, I can't see why anyone would say they need to retire. Course, you may not like the Stones.

Grunge killed his music in 1991.

Someone fax him this news.

In the last years of performing, Kenny Rogers would drop the mic to his chest, tilt his head back and the background music would rise up to cover the failing vocals.
It was so obvious his best years were way behind him and yet, the seats were always filled.

With Asian Steve Perry? No Thanks.

We went to Asian Journey, Foreigner (one left) and Nightranger (who cares?) at Irvine Meadows when it was still around.

We were having so much fun in the parking lot tailgating that we never did go inside to see the show.
Doesn't matter when you can hear the same thing on the outside and not have to deal with Security inspections and $20 beers.

On the flipside, saw David Byrne's Coachella (streaming on Hulu) live set and it was absolutely fantastic. And he's 74 years old.

Because you just don't care for the music or their current ability? By all accounts they can still perform at a decent level except for some people not liking them without Steve Perry.

Irony....

IDGAF what you think, DLR sucked live, he forgot half the lyrics, and couldn't sing worth a frick without a quality sound engineer...

If auto tune was out back then, they would've use it on him.

No. Just no. The classic VH lineup was better by a wide margin and ruled rock music in the late 70's thru the mid 80's. Sammy has more range as a singer and was a good performer in his own right but VH became a sappy ballad and bubble gum pop band when Roth left.

The ability was fine, albeit overwrought. I totally respect the musicianship and the fact that they're legends.

My opinion stems from (in no particular order), they sounded horrible, there was absolutely no chemistry onstage because they all hate each other, the crowd provided what energy there was to the show, and someone needs to tell Neal Schon that every song doesn't need a 5+ minute guitar solo that is so poorly engineered that that his pick attack overwhelmed what the band was playing behind him. And I am 100% a guitar guy.

It just wasn't a great experience, IMO. Your mileage may vary.

Heard the funniest thing. Apparently that guy has been doing live shows with Journey almost or longer than Steve Perry. He did not want to go out on their concert tour they are doing. He was pissed, wanted it to be over and did not want to do it. He said they basically kidnapped him and put him out there on the tour.

Flash forward a few weeks after I read about the above. I am listening to the radio and they are talking about the Journey tour and they said that the band said they are having so much success on the tour they are going to add an additional like 30 shows. That poor guy! He must be extemely pissed off.

I love Rush, but Geddy can’t sing falsetto anymore and I can’t handle him attempting to sing using his regular voice. Sounds like a cat moaning. Music is still great, though

I saw Bruce Springsteen for the first time the other day.

Super preachy and liberal (and the setlist DEFINITELY suffered for it).

But I was surprised how competent and serviceable he still is.

I think they tuned a lot of it down.

Sounded much better than I expected given his age.

Willie Nelson needs to hang it up.

I saw AC/DC last summer it was awful. Angus could still shred it but Brian Johnson could barely talk or keep up. Was kinda bummed I had always wanted to see them live as I heard plenty stories how great their concerts were growing up.

Idk why these guys keep doing this. Do they not have money or something?

Still worth seeing but the replacement dude has lost ability over time.

Steve Perry was one of a kind.
