New Jersey makes the list suspect

Surburban northern New Jersey is one of wealthiest and most educated parts of the country so it kind of carries the rest of the state, which is a toilet bowl.

There are western parts that are nice. There are also shore areas that are nice too.

It is 72 right now at 1:12pm on July 14th.

We returned there(spent our honeymoon r there 18 years ago in June '19. Stayed at an AirBnB near Bristol. The first day we were there it was in the 50's and wind was howling down the mountains. The next couple of days were beautiful. Upper 60's and pollen everywhere, it was great

For the past several years, we have also considered inclusiveness of state laws in areas like protections against discrimination and voting rights. That’s not politics, it’s business.

AKA

These aren’t really and truly the top 10 best states, but we’re Woke now and we’re lying to promote the agenda.

States I would never live in unless required:

1. Vermont
2.
3.
4. North Dakota
5. Minnesota
6. Washington
7. Nebraska
8. New Jersey
9. Oregon
10. Iowa

I'd live in Vermont, Oregon and Washington in a heartbeat if housing costs were no problem.

It's politics, and makes this list stupid.

Idaho as well, but yes, you are spot-on with those additions.

NJ dis-credits the author and research.

I’ve heard good things about S. Dakota as well, N. Dakota is - whole different level of cold that I’ve experienced in Minot, ND! Was there for first cold winter day once & just pumping gas felt like my nose was about to freeze.

this was back in 2015’ish & McDonalds and the likes all have their message boards up with “signing bonuses”, and during that time it was $1500’ish signing bonuses, wonder what it is now?

But after experiencing what was considered their 1st winter day, I can’t imagine January’s in ND, they say the way the currents work thru there, the arctic winds/blasts roll thru &’it gets comparable to Alaska, or so I was told by locals up there.

In the Dakotas you get the perfect storm of ridiculous cold and an oppressively hot summer.

I was browsing realtor.com in Vermont earlier and was surprised at how affordable it was

Old, but decent houses on pretty acreage for less than 300k in the sticks

You are correct sir...full disclosure...1970's true log cabin on 50 acres on grid w/ high speed internet and electric, artesian well water with garbage pick-up. 30 mins. to closest grocery, fast food or N.H. tax free shopping, but 10 mins to local co-op with fresh local meat and veggies. Paid $175k recently

By the way, to all the people that say they couldn't live in Vermont or Maine because of the politics you are part of the problem. There are MANY people up in those parts that share your views on certain national politics but when it comes to brass tax they support taxes and government because it works for them. You might find yourself supporting the same things if you lived there. You need to remember that VT is still well under a total population of 600k and NH is barely above a million. Maine is most like your havens of Idaho and Montana but actually closer to things we recognize as civilization.

But also, stay away. Come for your dream vacations during Fall Foliage and summertime; kindly go back so we can enjoy the rest of the year without you.

Where in VT are you located? We take day/weekend trips to different areas fairly often and love to check out new spots.

Can I get an exemption on this, baw? Winter in Vermont may actually be my favorite time to go.
