50 fricking years in American politics, 8 as VP and this is “expertise” in foreign affairs. Did Blinken even ask for a courtesy reach around as he was taking it dry?

And no word about Marc Fogel who pled guilty and is serving his time for almost the exact same reason as Griner. 61 year old white male, sentenced to 14 years for bringing 17 ounces of medical marijuana into Russia

And throw in those two dumbasses who went and fought for Ukraine and got themselves captured.

Griner is neither being held hostage or being wrongfully detained. She knowingly carried an illegal substance into a foreign country, breaking said country's laws, and was arrested for it.

Why is the word hostage being used?
Griner willingly went to Russia, is being charged with breaking the law while there and is currently involved in a trial in the arresting country.

Viktor Bout was also duly processed thru the legal system of this country.

The truth is we are trading people charged with crimes because one of the people enjoys media favoritism.

Whelan was straight up kidnapped as trade bait.

So, what you're saying is the Biden administration swallowed the bait whole?

This isn't a like for like trade. They get a dude back who can cause damage. We get a fake spy and a woman basketball player who plays in a league that literally costs millions of dollars just to keep afloat.

What an joke, an arms dealer for a domestic abuser, leave Griner's bitch arse in Russia and let her figure it out.

The Biden administration is a absolute farce.

Oweo:

I think this is a fantastic trade. I don’t know much about foreign policy or negotiating with enemies of the state or anything admittedly. But look, we had an asset they wanted and they had assets we wanted. Fair trade.

Most of you are just too wrapped up in politics, this side or that side. I myself am above that. And i don’t read or consume media from any of the major outlets, right or left. I don’t have time for that and quite frankly i’m not some political diehard despite showing up in every thread defending the President i voted for. Hey, at least he doesn’t send mean tweets and isn’t at all corrupt. Did I mention he also totally doesn’t have pictures with Epstein, thus doesn’t have a perversion for young children?

But from what I’ve heard on MSNBC and The View this morning, this is fantastic foreign policy. And if it were corrupt greedy failure of business man, Trump, he probably would have done some back door deal with Russia through his even more corrupt son and wasted millions in tax payer dollars. That’s just my fair and unbiased take. Take it or leave it. I don’t care and you can call me out on how stupid this take is, I’ll probably just argue with you and never actually make a legitimate rebuttal on why my original point wasn’t stupid. I really don’t care about your opinion, like at all. But please be nice and provide me ample attention.

I also once knew an arms dealer. He was my cousin’s neighbor’s best friend. I only met him once at Essence Fest in New Orleans. Admittedly, I’ve never actually been to Essence Fest, but i know a lot of great people who go every year. Anyhow, i think my cousin’s neighbor would be the first to tell you that this seems like a fair deal.

This would be one of the top 5 dumbest things this administration has done, which is saying a lot.

She's not a political person or a person being abused or a person being denied basic human rights.

She broke a drug law. It may not be a drug law we agree with, and we may think the punishment is too severe... but it's perfectly reasonable for Russia to have drug laws.

Didn't she play for a team over there? Meaning she was there for a while. She should have known the laws.

If she's not an WNBA player, no one is trying to get her back.

Disagree. Just make it strongly known that if you decide to go there, you're assuming all of the risk that comes with it and we will not trade any prisoners or make any deals to get you out should you become detained.

I'll tell you right here on the OT and swear on all my chirrens and Baby Jesus. I would NOT want to be traded for that fricking guy. I'd take one for my country and take the 10 yrs rather than having that piece of shite go free on my account

That guy is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths, almost all of which were the 'good guys' and innocent civilians around the world.

I'd 100% say "no thanks". My country and family would be waiting for me as a hero in 10 yrs.

Yep. I can't see how ANYONE thinks this is a good idea. CNN doesn't even pull punches on that guy's history and ties to terrorists.
