Well considering most of the Cortana area is now basically a ghost town as it stands one net positive aside from any economic ultimate output into the BR area will inherently and eventually be infrastructural improvements in the area in order to facilitate the vehicles and shipping activities moving in and out. It will at any rate modernize and appear nicer, with hopefully expanded and paved roadways hopefully expanding as Far East as say villa del Rey. What I’m picturing is the area will one day again be nicer than it’s been since the mid eighties to get around there. All these shut down former stores and eateries in the area will also be operational and in lease again also.

The answer to who builds the robots for Amazon is fairly simple. Amazon does
Bezo's plopped down (chump change to him) about 850 million and bought robot maker Kiva and then changed the name to Amazon Robotics.
He then emailed all the former customers using Kiva's robots, huge logistics heavy company's like Target, Walmart etc, and said we wont sell to you anymore as we are taking everything in house.
Dude is a brutal, shrewd and rich businessman.

Most of what I buy from Amazon is not stocked by local, brick and mortar retailers. Sure, I could order from some of those retailers, but their shipping is nowhere near as efficient, nor is their return policy nearly as easy to use.
Amazon has filled a market that others were either incapable of or refused to fill. Take Sears as an example: They were the Amazon when Amazon was still just a mostly-unexplored river. They were uniquely situated to be the Amazon of today. They had literally everything they needed already in place to do what Amazon is currently doing. Don't blame Amazon for other retailers having shite leadership that refused to progress with the times. The concept of Amazon is not a new one. Bezos and crew have just done it better than anyone else before them.

Amazon is just Alibaba with a better website. Order your Chinese shite from baba and save some money. Someone screen printing their brand on the product doesn't add value.

That part of Amazon has grown a ton. Everyone is trying to make money reselling dog toys or kitchen tools with their brand name on it.
There's also fake or sponsored reviews. Or the mixing of good and bad inventory. Read reviews for brand name batteries. You don't know if the product you receive will be good or expired.
In context of the thread, no I don't see Amazon's massive growth as some great thing.

True. That isn't exclusive to Amazon, though.
The fact is, excluding the cheap chinese shite, Amazon is more likely to have what I actually need, and they won't take forever to get it to me. Sure, I can order it from Lowe's or Walmart (both of which also sell cheap chinese shite, particularly online), but I'm going to wait days longer for it to be delivered, and if it is damaged or doesn't work I'm going to have to jump through hoops to return it.
Also, the people who say Amazon is overpriced are wrong or they just don't take the time to look. Several times I've gotten stores, when they actually have the item in stock, to price match Amazon. A few months back Academy matched Amazon's price on some Nikon binoculars that I wanted to buy. It saved me about $25.
Amazon has also facilitated online sales for companies (many that are "local") that either don't want the hassle of creating and maintaining their online platform, or can't foot the expense.
All of this to say that Amazon is not all bad, nor is it all good. Neither is it worse than what Walmart has done over the past 30+ years. If it were Sears doing what Amazon is doing, I guarantee you there would be far fewer people calling them evil. I can also guarantee you that they would be peddling the same "cheap chinese shite" that Amazon is. Yet, Sears is nothing but a shell of its former self and has been sacrificed at the alter of poor management and vision.
