Did not expect this twist. OP came out the gate like a typical close minded retard.

Instead you showed you wanted to actually discuss your thoughts with an open mind. We need more people like this on the internet right now.

Who builds all those robots?

Machine learning engineers and Data Scientists who leverage SQL and Python to implement deep learning in robotics from a software standpoint. They are responsible for taking Amazon requirements and building the software that powers robotic automation procedures.

Deep learning utilizes models of meta data to achieve human-like recognition skills and knowledge used in automation for robotics.

Seriously?
Yes, seriously. Look it up. China isn't exactly at the forefront of building automated robots for other countries because it goes against their entire mantra. If you want a cheap kitchen garbage can or doodad, sure, you got me there.

But as far as automation is concerned, China is not going to go against how they prop up their country...cheap labor.

They've got about 600 million people that are still left out of their growing industrial economy. Their goal is to get them working in their hometown. Not to get robots working in America.

That’s always the case. The other side, especially if they are progressives, usually have awful arguments if they even bring any logic to the discussion at all. It’s usually all emotion.

Yak came with some facts that I didn’t know and an angle I hadn’t thought of.

How many jobs are there without the Amazon distribution centers coming in? How much faster/slower are delivery times with/without.

Seems like the slow walking and scooter driving fatties would be the type to stay home and order online.

Nah, they just make every component that goes into making them. Then, ships the parts to another foreign country to have them assembled.

You are completely missing the point, but that's ok.

I can tell you that Murr Electronik, Cognex, Panasonic, Omron, Tolomatic, etc. are all components of automated robots, and none are made in China.

In 2014 Amazon had 14,000 robots in their distribution centers. Today they have 200,000 robots working. This number isn’t going to decrease. Within 5 years the majority of Amazon jobs will be robotic.

Let me get this straight. You think it’s bad that we’re going to have robots doing all of our work for us?

Point being - there is a lot of work for unskilled laborers in Louisiana

Because they are making more on unemployment. It will run out at some point.

Amazon is a parasitic company, it isn’t benevolent to the states it operates in and Louisiana won’t be any different.

Well why don’t you tell me what the net job creation is when brick and mortar stores start closing because everything is same day delivery from Amazon.

The majority of people, women especially still like to look at, and touch, the stuff before they buy, Shopping is as much a entertainment activity as it is just a way to obtain goods. Brick and mortar stores, especially those that are specialized are not going anywhere.

Yep - and plenty still won’t work

But the jobs are available now and they will be there when the unemployment runs out

I wouldn’t be so sure. When the cost of the goods through Amazon is cheaper because they don’t have to maintain an expensive store front and most of their overhead is automated shopping in person May be more for high end clientele only

The fact that people in Louisiana are excited about getting these glorified warehouses is funny. Similar warehouses have gone up throughout the US, and hardly make a blip on their nearby city’s news. Most of these cities, I will admit, have some sort of corporate HQ presence, which has been driven out of LA by corrupt politicians.

Do you think another warehouse near Houston/Dallas/Nashville/Charlotte/Atlanta would even be a blip on their “business news” radar?
