Final day of the Olympic Track and Field trials is today in Eugene. It's supposed to be 113 degrees.
Had my windows open all night with the fans trying to crank in some cooler air, and it only took things down to 84 inside.

I just moved into a house with A/C out here in April. Feel so lucky to have it. Even during regular Summers, there's at least a couple of weeks a year where the temps or too high at night to get decent sleep.
Fans and swamp coolers don't cut it.
Summited Mt St Helens in September years ago when UT played @ the Ducks, was frigging 98 degrees then and temps had been in the high 60's the prior week. Meanwhile, here in Santa Fe we had 4 tons of AC installed as the swamp cooler sucked and it is 65 degrees with rain today. Weird arse weather for sure. I saw Desert Wind quit shipping wine out of the NW until after July 4th, too.

I've never seen so much visible rock on Rainier and you can see the east side of Hurricane Ridge from here and it's mostly melted as well. And that was before yesterday.
We have the opposite issue. Snowpack is 200% of normal, cool spring and summer.
Will be over 75 degrees for the first time this on Tuesday.

Was thinking that as well. Might be some valuable wines for those that make it.

It's only gotten over 70 like once or twice out here, like at the very beginning of the summer. Cold (50s/low 60s), cloudy, rainy.
I would love some late season dry, relatively warm weather at the moment

Portland has hit 109° today, and probably hasn't topped out yet.
Posted on 6/27/21 at 4:29 pm to LegendInMyMind
Somewhere between 4-5 PDT will be the peak.

It definitely feels like it has been peaking in Bend for the last hour, or so. Going to be even hotter tomorrow and Tuesday.

114 in BC hits the hottest temp on record in Canada.

My sister lives in Albany, Oregon (between Salem and Eugene). Its 108 there right now. A lot of the houses in that area don't have air conditioners.

Meanwhile I will have to mow my lawn in Baton Rouge every 4 to 5 days or will be way thicker than I like

I was shocked at how rare they are when I moved here. The people that say that you don't need them are crazy. It's not so much the heat during the day as it is trying to sleep at night for those 2 or 3 weeks in the Summer when the temps stay up in the 70s. It's miserable.

Grew up in Portland with no AC. Would sleep in the basement that stayed cool about once a summer but otherwise was perfectly fine with a window fan. While this stretch is obvious unprecedented, the long stretch coming of 90+ is very usual too

Absolutely. I've had an AC or 2 for many many years. I hate being sticky.
