And now Toyota is stepping on their dick putting a 4cyl in a 4Runner.

I mean, it's not that hard to understand, but I do agree, in the last 4 years Toyota, at least with their trucks and high end SUV's have come back to the field.

And now it's going to be the rise of the Chinese cars and the fall of detroit 2.0

Not to mention the European and Japanese markets are all at risk

The one that’s 100% Japanese and has no signs of any issues? The same engine that has shown no signs of any issues at all so far? The same one that can get 24 mpg on the highway while the previous generation got 16 at best? Lol

Blame your government’s CAFE standards for the current mess with vehicles.

I’m hoping Trump rolling some of it back will result in better products in the next couple years. I’m not touching a 6 cylinder with twin turbos and a kill switch at every stop.

American car market would crash overnight if Japanese vehicles were sold here.

I was the union rep at the old domestic plant in Hadleyville. Whole town went down the shitter but, based on my pitch to the bosses in Osaka, Assan Motors agreed to take over the plant. We had a lot of growing pains, as you might expect: mandatory morning exercise that the boys on the line hated and mocked, difficult new bosses who didn’t like or trust the boys, etc. There was a softball incident. I had to knock out one of the guys at piggly wiggly when he was harassing one of the boss’ wife. But we eventually produced our quota of cars that quarter, after we pulled a raucous all-nighter while we blasted good ole American rock music. You know how many of those vehicles we SOLD that year? Doughnut, babe.

Why is Honda’s midsize truck and SUV still rolling with a 6cyl then? Sounds like it was a decision by Toyota

There’s already been tons of issues with the 4cyl and electronics related to the turbo. Don’t get me started on the Tundra 6 banger. Oh and sorry about your purchase.

Well, were you the man that saved Hadleyville or the man that ruined it?

Not the same turbo setup that’s on the tundra. No electronic waste gate. The tundra is a completely different setup in almost every aspect outside of it also being a forced induction engine.

I’ve had turbo diesels, king ranch, Laramie longhorns, high country’s, black widow edition trucks… etc. I have and will continue to try everything out there that I want to try. Yes I would drive it. And will not hesitate to try other things as well. If it works, it works.

Almost a 300% increase in sales from 2025 Q1 salves vs 2026 Q1 sales. Yea, they really are stepping on their dicks

The fact is the majority of people don't give two shits what motor in a four runner, they just want a four runner.
