It is Louisiana. They would throw up all kinds of road blocks. First I hear of Tiger Woods never coming here.

It was mentioned that Buccees went to Alabama because of this very reason.

It’s been a popular story for awhile among golf circles. I believe it was morial who ran him off. I’ve heard he’s over it now and would like to play the Zurich one day. It just has to line up with his schedule. Obviously winning the masters this year took the Zurich out of play.

For the 17 billionth time,
THE STATE DOES NOT CONTROL LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
Now that we said that...
There is something about this story that's not getting reported.
"What did Top Golf do to get this deal"?
I'm not entirely convinced that a Top Golf at that location would work. But, I guess they though it might.
So... the Hayride needs to finish the article. Who did Top Golf pay off, and how much did it cost?
Presumably Top Golf isn't having to pay off officials anywhere else, so why are they paying off officials here?
As far as the convention center, it's time to bring in processional management and leave the board to only sign off on the issues. If only there was a large company somewhere that had experiences managing large stadiums and convention centers, that the state already deals with to manage large stadiums.......

Thank God for Louisiana corruption. Disney world is so gay

The state controls the flyover ramp needed to get traffic from the interstate to the airport.

You can’t polish a turd, baws, but the state of Louisiana continues to try

From what I've read, Louisiana basically had all these things they wanted to get from Disney. Orlando did the exact opposite so he went there.

Convention Center leadership needs to be re-evaluated.
The state is run by idiots who are elected by idiots.
The only way to fix LA is to burn the whole system down and start over.
It will not improve. It will not get better. It has moved far beyond a state of mediocrity.

There is an already lengthy thread on the Top Golf / Joe Jaeger situation.
The convention center dragged its feet when Jaeger wanted top golf on the river so he went with other plans. Then the convention center offers a shady back room deal to top golf. Of course Jaeger is pissed, who wouldn’t be.
As for Tiger Woods, you can thanks Morial for that. Tiger was here putting on a youth clinic and the mayor tried to get him to commit to several other appearances where the mayor could pocket some money.
Disney World was never coming here. The area was floated as an option to throw off land owners in a Florida because Walt was buying up all the property under shell companies.

shite, Missouri would of had the 1st Disney Property, (50 mins outside St.Louis), but Anhueser Busch told him that his park would have to serve beer(and had local unions also forcing his hand), he told them to frick off and built it where no one/no unions made demands. Walt had property and everything already finished and ready, then they tried to strong arm him.

Only in LA can the building of a new airport be delayed because they forget to build a road to get to the damn thing.

quote:This has nothing to do with NOLA's ghetto population. The area Top Golf would have been is mostly filled with young professionals and close to a lot of tourists. Top Golf would've been printing money over there. Unfortunately, this is another case of our politicians screwing us over.

Jaeger hitched his horse to the more generic, shitty wagon and people prefer the nicer, more high end model. That IS how business works.
