This. Not living to be a 100. Did not think much about it in my 40's. 50 hit me in the face.

That’s why I’m retiring 62 latest. Once 59 1/2 hits, it’s the day I feel like doing it.

I've known that I was getting old, starting around my mid 50's. But now in my 70's, I FEEL old.

If that is your biggest fear, what is next in line ?????

Age 56. Blood clots in both lungs

"One of..." and it's tongue in cheek.

Age 49 a heart attack made me see the frailty of the human body.
Lung cancer at 62 sort of sharpened the clarity of just how many years I had behind me. It’s in remission now, but I live in dread of each CT scan and find it hard not to.

Revised to 73? I don’t believe that. There’s too many old people, albeit just existing.
This thread makes me want to retire end of this year. Hmmm.

I think about it almost every day, especially since I am not far from 60. It's out there. Lurking.

Went to urgent care because I was coughing, had the runs and felt like dog shite. Almost passed out in waiting room and was rushed to the hospital. Apparently, lost a lot of blood overnight with what I thought was an upset stomach craps, but was caused by extreme diverticulitis flare up. Ran my arse through all kinds of tests because they initially thought I was having a heart attack. Had a follow up colonoscopy last week, and wound up getting every orofice scoped and probed since deductible was met. So, I now know I have DV and everything else has checked out fine. One last visit to dermatologist and that'll be it. I am 60.

When you realize that the fkn' music is too loud and parties are not as fun as they used to be, and realizing not to drink too much so next day you can wake up early.

I'm glad my dad was able see the last 3 NC's in football and all in baseball except for last year.

5 years out - 20% are dead
10 years out - 40% are dead

Tough one for me to answer. My main goal in life as a young man was to surpass the age my dad died------age 35 yrs. 5 days.
Well, I'm going to be 73 this coming November, so mission accomplished by 2 X + and still feel relatively spry.
I think I was in my mid 60's when it dawned on me when a few issues started hitting me that required surgeries to correct from previous years of rough and tumble abuse of my body between work and play.
To use a gambling analogy, "I'm living on house money now". I don't know how much time I have left but when I go I can only hope it will be as quick as it was for my dad. I was present in the room when he had his heart attack and died and from the first sign of distress to him being beyond hope was less than a minute.
He had just stood up and tumbled to the floor, got up to his feet and fell back on the bed and that was that. No drawn out debilitating illness, no long list of medications to take daily, no in and out of hospitals for treatment------------just a one and done event.

I'm 83 and beginning to think that way.

When I no longer took pleasure in looking at pics posted here of chicks young enough to be my daughter.
When I realized all the guys playing football on Saturdays were young enough to be my sons.
