Jesus, does EE really make that much? I'm looking at probably 75-80K as a CE with 4-5 years in Louisiana.
In DFW yes.
Software even higher.

Probably offering too low of salary.
6 figs or bust for any EE with minimum 4-5 years exp.
LOL, nope.
In KC you have to offer 150k+ to get a sniff from any good experienced electricals.
Depending on the industry, 5-7 year EEs up here can land jobs in the 160-180k range right now.

There are a few but power delivery (transmission, substation & distribution design) at the large firms were offering that last I saw.
If you contact the elite head hunters up here in this area, I'm sure they have a long list of jobs they are working to fill in various industries.
I think one company has some similar salaries for data center design openings.

90% of the engineers I work with I wouldn't hire in an entry level position, I have no idea how they are getting churned out of school. SAD

The ones I work with are commanding 1.5-2x the fees on projects vs civil.

I worked for a contracting firm in Baton Rouge as an electrical engineer for roughly 5 years and made great money. Just depends on what company you're aiming to work for.
However, since being relocated and finding another job here in DFW, I've gotten three pay raises. Texas is where its at!

Try naval architecture/marine engineering. You'll never be unemployed.

Site Reliability Engineering. SRE’s on the west coast are pulling in even more than that.

You can try Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, Enercon, Kiewit, Ulteig, JE Dunn....
All the typical job search sites like Glassdoor, linkedin, etc. should have most of them listed too.

My daughter got out of La Tech last Spring, seemed out of state were the best opportunities by far. She is over in Houston now and is doing well. Good salary and having fun. 22 years old and if somewhat responsible with her money, she is in good shape to do what ever she wants in life within reason.
I am glad she is there. Any one that stays in this State is definitely battling with a short stick.

I was casually browsing the net to see what was out there for my next step up and there's hardly anything posted.
You dumbass, you want to provide a skill to people and employers in Louisiana and you expect to get PAID? Dude, this is Louisiana, Louisiana based companies overall don't like paying their employees....directly or at all. On average, for most skills that don't include an MD or for that matter a JD, you will be paid 15-20% less for your efforts than you would in Texas, Tennessee, Florida or Alabama, even
What type of engineer?

But still, you would get paid more in Washington State or Long Beach for the same efforts

Jesus Christ. I am CE and make almost double that 5 years out of school. Get a better job or go work for a plant or get better at your job.
