The job market for an engineer looking to grow absolutely sucks in Louisiana

I was casually browsing the net to see what was out there for my next step up and there's hardly anything posted. Just a bunch of short term contracting work. Seems like if I want to make some real money I will have to move to Houston or Dallas.

If you have a desk and a chair, I’ll trade jobs and degrees with you

1999 LSU Eng grad here- worked my way up, and I own my own company now. It’s not the biggest, but is definitely making a major impact in the space we play in.
Don’t give up- I love Louisiana, despite countless opportunities to leave. Work hard (harder than you think) and success will come.

News flash. Professional growth plateaus quickly for most fields in Louisiana.

MEP? Power distribution? Industrial?
A lot of electrical guys dont want to do commercial building stuff but theres usually fairly steady work if you have your PE.

if you want electronics, you have to move out of state
if you want to stay in state look at industrial power, which is what i've been in for 3 years now and make good $$$

Search the lake Charles area. There were two openings. One at Westlake chemical and one at sasol last I looked.
