WAFB saying people in Sorrento if you remotely think you will get water now is the time to get out

I just saw my parent's house on there and they have homes already in the area with water in them. I'm not so sure the west side of Sorrento will be seeing anything like that however, but the water did come up a lot in just a few hours for them on the East side.

Barely made it out of lakes of st amant subdivision at 5:30 pm. Water was over halfway up driveways but water was pouring into front of neighborhood. I can't imagine getting out of there now. For those who know the area they were launching boats at the vfw hall.

Just drove by highland and burbank/seigen, looked worse to me now than it did at 11am. DOTD truck was sitting out there, might be closing the road soon?

Been out of the TD loop most of the day today, so this may be old news, but lake Sherwood neighborhood appears to be drained out and the intersection at Sherwood/N Lake Sherwood is finally drained. Although there are 5-6 stranded in the middle of the road from earlier

What was also unusual about the system was how the strongest rains were on the southwest quadrant.

It wasn't a truly tropical system, it was warm core with warm rain processes, but wasn't truly tropical (if that makes sense). Therefore, precipitation placement was highly driven by mesoscale features with a constant fetch of low level flow off the north western Gulf. So somewhat different than a landfalling tropical system. Either way, this will make a great case study for some upcoming grad student.

That's what I'm thinking but, there is already water on this side of the tracks, but on the north side of 22. It's all near the tracks and a guy I talked to on Brittany Rd. told me he was high and dry.
Bayou Conway would be our biggest threat but as of now it doesn't appear to be backing up.

I was having katrina flashbacks running in 10' of water through people's front yards. It is absolutely heartbreaking and that's just one area of this disaster. Nobody where we were was dry

My guess is Spanish Lake Swamp really saved a lot of people. I understand your concern with it possibly spilling over with what's going on at alligator river but as long as Manchac keeps going down that threat will be smaller and smaller.

Did you take those pics via boat? Has the water subsided anywhere around there? Unlikely but just wondering.

On the Brec park side

FWIW, Bayou Manchac @ Kleinpeter continues to rise. Pretty crazy considering how far south the crest apparently has moved.

Nothing we can do. Already evacuated from Bayou Paul to my brother's on Highland. Nothing to do but pray Manchac Rd holds, drink and watch Bayou Fountain.

Tito's and Fresca.

I know what the "field" reporters have said at various places, but the gages in are saying otherwise.
