I've now completed the gestral beaches that have the climbing challenge with beams of light firing at you, and the race course so...I guess I have to finish them all...

I’m proud of you. Must truly be game of the year material.

If that's the expedition that leaves a week after everyone else and just picks up the stuff they left behind without having to fight anything, that sounds like my kind of crew.

Haha Something like that yeah.

It's not happening tonight. I'm a failure.

Maybe you can join expedition 32
“Turn based should be about tactics not button mashing.”

It’s not like this game has move sets that build off each other and can weave into other characters rotations for optimal results. Nothing tactical about that.

Or having your starting rotation get fricked and then have to recover. No tactics in that.

No tactics in knowing that every move you select is more vital that just casting a regular ole JRPG magic spell. Not tactical.

Nothing tactical about limited healing and revive items. Nah. No tactics in managing that stuff.

It’s all just button mashing….

God forbid a game take everything tactical about JRPGs and then add in a dodge/parry tactic. Not tactical at alll.

Some people shouldn’t breed. Unfortunate the dumb ones seem to breed the most.

Also the highest user rating of all time on metacritic.

The vast majority of the complaints and negative reviews are from people who just suck at video games in general and can't utilize the dodges and parries correctly. At least from what I have seen.

Some even on story mode are struggling.

I just got done beating a world boss that was one shot on everything. After the first fight I was like ehhh I’ll just come back when I’m stronger.

Then I thought…if it’s in the act 1 zone and I’m in act 2. Surely I can. So I went back and proceeded to die 10+ times just learning the move names and then the timing. Always using my extra member to try a get more reps in knowing it was over.

Sure enough it just took being able to parry roughly 10 or so attack turns before it was dead.

Went from I’ll pass to unlocking one of the better weapons I have come across. All it took was 20mins, focus, and patience.
Everyone is 27 and one is 24. I have mostly been using the girls as well. Just too familiar with the rotations and weaving between them all.
I have still yet to press the dodge button.

Unless I had to do it in the tutorial…I forget but otherwise pulling off perfect parry’s is like crack to me.

Also just beat the last volly. Took about 10 attempts after returning from last night.

Staying between the bottom right corner of the far left square and far left corner of the right square seemed to be shortest path that optimized the range of your block. If that makes sense.

but tonight is the night.

Report back.
It’s not so much about the item and more so the challenge, the extra time spent in a game a like, and the desire to complete everything.
I’ll beat the volly today. I practiced for an hour last night before calling it. Wife got off the couch and I asked where she was going.

She said if I have to watch this and hear you say one more time another 30 times then I’m going to do something else…

I’m consistently getting it down to where it only needs 2-6 damage. Got really close a few times.

This story man....

Just hit act 2 as well but detoured off to the raft volly. frick my life.

My theory’s seems to change at every cutscene. I’ve got a few that I think have decent foundations but I just I donno. It’s like I’m watching lost for the first time. Best way I can describe it.

I'm such a dumb arse. I never applied my lumina points

Changes things doesn’t it?
Just hit act 2. Backtracking some to explore some more. In a pretty good place party and build wise.

Everyone has roulette. fricking send it every turn.

's really really good. My wife is frustrated that I keep exploring instead of continuing the story.

My wife literally just told me to get out the shower and come play the game haha.

Apparently a movie for this was green lit back in January?

it's hard to find a skill tree for this game online. was gonna see what the leveling system looked like. on the streams i saw the streamer equipping different upgrades but that seemed to be something different from the skill tree.

I haven’t looked yet either but I figured there would be little info yet. It’s not Elden ring level where millions are playing and making content.

I have been fricking around with Lune and I think it’s her rock slide move or something. It’s high damage and even more damage with the right stains. I’ve got the rotation down and boy it’s my power right now.

I’m constantly getting Maelle into her V stance and then use Gustavo to buff them with attack power, do high gun damage to weak spots and then just let the two girls cook.

By the time they are prepped to unleash their attacks they all have attack buff and Gustavo has overdrive?/charge? At level 10.

It’s over.

Love this aspect of the combat.

What worried me most was the $50 price tag. How complex would the finer details on this game be with that price I haven’t seen in what feels like a decade.

So far it’s been perfect.
Love how you can beat any boss at any level.

I have taken down a couple of bosses that were killing me in one hit.

Wife would say they are too strong. I told her she lacked the testosterone to understand what’s about to happen and then proceeded the next 20mins learning the parry’s and landing the counters.

Btw. There have been some fricking bangers of some songs. There were two I can across around the floating water area or whatever fighting bosses. Added a little like trance/techno or something. Soooooo good.

This game is very, very good. Wow

This.
It’s legit fun. I’m addicted to the combat. Planning to do increased damage is so satisfying. Even taking time to really consider my equipment and how I want to combo. Amazing.

I have only parried. Never pressed dodge once. Parrying all the attacks to trigger the counter attack is 100% satisfying.

Story is great so far. I do get that classic FF 7,8,9,X feel. X more so than the rest.
9.6 user score for PS5 which hold the most reviews user and critic.

Man this story fricking SLAPS. I havent seen a game with this tight of writing in a long time.

Shadowbringers was the last top tier story that I have played.
