ulane, it LOOKS like Bayou Manchac is cresting so any flooding is likely to begin receding soon in Baton Rouge.
Here's hoping

I'm pretty sure Old Jefferson at Manchac is still closed.

Has anyone seen the parking lots on Nicholson Ext recently? Is it flooded or accessible?

Yes, theegg. Believe it or not the highest ground in the area is along the Mississippi. That route bypasses the swollen Manchac.

by brother lives very close to this flood gage (see link), it is going down, but may go up when the Amite crests. Any idea what to expect in the Gonzales area.

My question is can we expect to see any more flooding in Gonzales near Highway 74 between I10 and Airline. Maybe It's too difficult to predict this stuff. My best guess is that it won't increase too much. Maybe I'm too optimistic, taking it one hour at a time.
Looking at the flood gages the only area that we should keep an eye on is French Settlement, but hopefully, the water won't rise too much more. Glad we have a sunny day so far

Was coming to ask the same thing. My wife is trying to get to the airport from BR this morning. Is Hwy 30 safe to traverse? Saw on the news it was taking some water last night but can't find anything about it being closed.

Just curious - how's Burbank and Bluebonnet this morning?
Posted on 8/15/16 at 7:49 am to The Egg
Yeah that's likely your best option

Update from the Lakes at Bluebonnet condos
Water rose about 1 foot overnight
I still see about 4 feet of green grass between our big lake and Bayou Fountain
Water on both sides of Bluebonnet at Albertsons and the Burger King
Hopefully we have crested!!!

Be wary though that parts of Nicholson are closed as well as Burbank and bluebonnet
