I can't tell you how many times I've had to go out of town for work because the woman who was supposed to go "couldn't leave because of her kids".
I'm a woman and always had the overnighters and out towns because I was single and didn't have kids. I also got the pleasure of working holidays when needed and staying late or weekend work because I don't have family.

I worked in that environment at my last job and the only way I survived was having my own office.
The worst part was that the women always asked you to move things because they couldn't lift them

why should they get special consideration for a holiday that everyone celebrates? I had family out of town and missed numerous trips to Louisiana because I had to work. Having kids shouldn't move you ahead of others without kids when it comes to things like holidays. Especially Christmas. everyone celebrates Christmas, not just moms.
I am with you but I used to ask to work holidays when we had to cover operations (IT). Although I was salary, I did get overtime pay for being on call during a holiday or actually having to work.
I have had a few new mothers work for me before. They are completely unproductive. One would take a few days off each month to take care of their sick kid. I never believed that kids was as sick as it was.

This is the fricking worst. I had one employee who did shite like this at least once a week and left co-workers to pick up her slack. She was blown away when her review that year didn't result in a raise and her co-workers did. They went above and beyond covering for you and your shite...some of them were also mother who somehow managed to still be a functioning employee...mind blowing

there is non stop drama. One of her co-workers has gotten THREE people fired by subterfuge including one of my wife's best friends. Another one has had 3 miscarriages this year (frick) and melts down every day.
My most active client, I probably work with 50-60% women. None of the above issues are at my client.

It is a simple fact.
If you choose to have children as a couple, one of the partner's career is going to suffer.
One of the parents will have to take time off for work due to sickness, routine doc appt, holidays, etc. This is just part of having a child.
You could try to split it, but then both of your jobs may suffer.
My wife took a massive pay cut when we had our daughter. Before we had our daughter, we were about equal in pay, now I make 4x her salary. It was planned that way. She is part of that "motherhood penalty" statistic, but it was a choice that we made as a couple.
If you complain about this type of thing, you should make better life decisions.

See we didn't want to work the major holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Those nights are slow as frick in a restaurant n a college town. Thankfully that was many moons ago.

My sister works 9-5 and her company buys lunch every day. But, she also has a 2 hour commute each way.
She starts her new job next Monday; 6-3:30 with every other Friday off.

No. They suffer a "reduced productivity penalty."

Unfortunately, but naturally.

Oh, come on now. No one respects a woman less because she carried a human for nine months and gave live birth to it like a freaking wizard, then returned to work to be like the rest of us normies. It's impressive, not derided. That's crap a 5th-grader does.

Amen. My wife and I went the other way. She loves her job, and she does it very well. I'm good at mine, but I have no real passion for it. Her ceiling is higher than mine. So when our kids need to stay home/go to the doctor, I'm falling on that grenade.

Had a similar situation in my department with three women. Always taking time off, or coming and going as they pleased. Never attempted to make up hours and dumped their responsibilities on others because they "didn't have time".
Holiday bonuses get paid out and these three women get nothing. They attempted to bitch up a storm about unfair treatment until three of the senior executives (two of them women) essentially told them to STFU.

bullshite. This has been debunked so many fricking times and these hack journalists still push it.
Wrong. They're not really hack journalists, they aren't even journalists any longer. They keep pushing this out, because it forwards the agenda of their beliefs, and the gullible lap it up.
