Wrong. They're not really hack journalists, they aren't even journalists any longer. They keep pushing this out, because it forwards the agenda of their beliefs, and the gullible lap it up.

Meanwhile, women making up the majority of students in higher education and men falling behind in school is completely ignored.

Too often, Dean says, workplaces approach flexibility as an "accommodation" — a special exception made for a working mother or someone with other demands on their schedule. When you paint this kind of arrangement as a "favor," it only enhances what sociologists have dubbed the "flexibility stigma," or the idea that those who work outside the traditional norms of 9-to-5, desk-bound offices are somehow not as committed or not as good at their jobs.

This is a HUGE problem in small/medium size professional practices. The concept of "face time" and being in the office when the senior partners are in the office, and working their schedule, etc. It's totally insane.

In my profession there are plenty of times I need to meet with clients. But honestly, many of my clients would rather meet virtually anyways. And if it's a virtual meeting, it should not matter if it's from my office or from my home office.

But many places offer these "accommodations" only to women, then brag about how "flexible" they are to women, meanwhile constantly holding them back from promotions because they feel these accommodations make them not as good as employees who don't need them.

Trust your people - male or female - to get the work done.

This is why I like my boss and have no intentions to leave anytime soon.

I come in when I want. I go home when I want. I work remotely when I want.

And he doesn’t care. I get my job done. Do it in a quality manner and on time.

As long as that happens he doesn’t give two shits how long or often I’m in the office.

I've always heard of 9-5 but in 2018 Merica, reality is 6:30 or 7:00 AM - 5:30 or 6:00 PM.

You walk in at 8am and everyone is giving you the eye.

When did 6:30-7am become the norm?

My wife took a massive pay cut when we had our daughter. Before we had our daughter, we were about equal in pay, now I make 4x her salary. It was planned that way. She is part of that "motherhood penalty" statistic, but it was a choice that we made as a couple.

Same here with nearly identical numbers. And the so-called "motherhood penalty" is a decision made by families, not by businesses. It could just as easy be a "fatherhood penalty" and I'm sure it often is.

I, too, thought of the movie when I read the title. And nothing is choking Dolly’s progress, I’m mean, come on, she built Dollywood in those mountains.

I can't imagine working somewhere where you had to be there at a certain time or you're "late"

For real. Doesn't matter if you stay til midnight, God forbid you walk in at 8.

Even though the people who show up early spend all that time drinking coffee or bullshitting in the kitchen with everyone else.
