Every ridiculous subsidized dollar that is going into wind and solar should be going to build nuclear and natural gas generated plants.

Solar and wind are UNRELIABLE, and INCAPABLE OF MEETING the energy demands of our economy.

And when I say, “our economy”, I mean HUMAN FLOURISHING as well as a
CLEANER PLANET.

Carbon Is the source of life on our planet. Increased carbon dioxide in the air is a good thing.

Texas has its own grid except Beaumont ( still on us east grid… El Paso ( on us west grid)… they did not want to include those due to economics when developing our own.. anyone remember the two cities that did not have people freeze and massive pipe damage last big freeze…

Not sure why we are worried … abbot said he fixed it all!!! And I know the guy now in charge of the power personally.. yeah he has lots of experience in this topic… or is it that his dad has lots of experience in political donations??? I get them confused..

Abbot … all hat and no cattle… your lack of preparation is not my problem.. if my dishwasher brings down the power grid I will just go stay in my recreation condo in another state for a while.. ( yikes I guess I am now Ted cruz)

I guess it depends where you live. West Texas is dry. Houston and East Texas - not so much.

Not surprising, but you have no idea what you're talking about. ERCOT has been shitting the bed for years as the population of TX increases.

Kindly shut the frick up.

ERCOT doesn't own or manage the generation facilities. They manage the market place and set policies at the direction of PUCT. You seem to know a lot, so what has ERCOT done for years, independent of any governmental agency's directions, that you consider shitting the bed?

If texas was a country we would be ranked number five in the world for wind generated electricity.. yes we have a lot of them in west (ish) texas… they are placed on known wind streamlines… and access to power transmission lines to get the energy from remote places to areas using the power..

The problem has been the states lack of requirement for the various power plants ( wind, natural gas etc) to maintain them or prepare with preventative policies on cases of difficulties. This is is because the polices require money invested and cut into the pockets of the plants …so the politicians like “support” money from these companies to keep the requirements low…

I'm a retired boomer living in "East (ish)" Texas. I have no sympathy for an energy grid with no capacity for difficulty. If Beto shapes a message around this he may win. But I'm for more nuclear reactors which are rarely talked about anymore. Finland should consider this.

Yes. And not unique to Texas. It’s just been the in thing to report on after the winter 2021 storms.
