Sounds like OP is a shitty waiter

No, i tip 25-30+%, because i would/could never do their job. I wouldn't put up with dickheads like you. I would put up with your shitty attitude for first 30 minutes, then knock your teeth down your fricking throat.

These people put up with Dickjaws like you every day of the year, and deserve an extra % to the tip.

No they won't, poor people are the worst tippers on the planet. If you have never worked in food service, which you obviously haven't, then why make a thread like this?

You can add people who tip at Sonic to this list, too.
Trash.
Not because they tip, but because they eat at Sonic.

I don't eat there -- I'm tipping my cornermen.

Or some of us have worked in the industry before. Also, some of us get to know a server at a particular restaurant and we pay them top dollar to continue to have them wait on us.

Yea I tip well at local restaurants so when I walk in the door they have my drink on the table and my order put in before I sit down (I have a favorite at each restaurant that I always order I rarely order anything different. If I intend to change it I inform the server soon as I walk in)

You eat at trashy chain restaurants for poors if the servers look like this.

Everywhere I eat at for dinner has well dressed pleasant servers

Growing up I can remember 15% being thrown around, then it was 18% when I worked in restaurants, now wanna be ballers acting like 20% is standard. I typically tip 20%, but it's because it's just so easy to determine 10% and double it. Not because I believe that's the baseline.....I'm just lazy with math . We complain that everyone includes a tip line now, but it's because you one-uppers like to show off.

My method of tipping depends not only on the service but the workload.

I eat by myself a lot and I’m not a demanding person to be waited on. Taking my order and one refill doesn’t really deserve 20%. More like 15%, 10% if the person takes forever or is unpleasant.

But I tip standard 20% if I’m eating with more people. Higher if the service is good or it’s an upscale place

What part of the OP's statement makes you think he's a waiter? Poor people rarely tip and I've never seen one over tip in my 4 years as a bartender. A waiter complains about people who don't tip, not ones who put extra money in their pocket

I worked retail and dealt with the public during college. It should be a requirement to either do service in the military or retail industry in order to receive government bennies

I view it as an attempt to cover up their poorness, but their attempt is futile as it showcases their poor business acumen (which I suspect is why they are a poor to begin with).

I know some of you baws tip between 35-40%.

This makes zero sense and the amount of mental gymnastics you did to come to this assumption is astounding.

I’m right at 15%. 20% if you earn it.

The bare minimum for me is 20% and I will look at you funny if you don't tip at least that.

It’s not 15%. The tipping standard is 20%. The tipping on the bottles of wine is your prerogative, however the way I see it, if I order $50 bottle of wine at a restaurant, I can afford to tip $10 on it and not complain about it.

How exactly are you determining who is poor and who is not? Clothes and demeanor really aren't that accurate. It sounds like you're basing it on your own poor guy's bias against tipping. That kind of circular reasoning always gives you poors away.

I was once at dinner with someone who said, "I don't tip on alcohol".

I never claimed to be wealthy, kid. I worked my arse of for more than 30 years and with
that and some luck I was able to retire comfortably.
Where exactly does that turn into pretending to be wealthy?
And what the hell is a "baller"?

Using terms like “poors” really is trashy. If you had real money (you don’t), you would act like it and show some class.

link? as I've stated here before, tipping is more or less an American thing but I'm a good tipper, because I've worked in food/beverage service before, and it's just not that big of a deal, I usually over tip at functions with an open bar because it seems no one is tipping at all, but running back to the bar about the time their beverage approaches being half way finished, how would you even know what others are tipping? why would you care? why am I asking you?

No. The average poor barely tips, if at all. The middle income groups tips fairly well, especially the upper middle income folks. The upper incomes can be hit-or-miss depending on the individual and the establishment.

I waited tables in college, the above never, ever, ever happened. In fact it was the complete opposite.
