Check out the bar at any Hooters. Usually 4-5 Afflictions and then 1 old man who knows all of the waitresses by name. Sad!

I don't really have an opinion, other than speculating that the OP is not a big fan of Dave Ramsey.

Tipping for the sheer percentage is just throwing your money away in order to appear savvy and affluent.
People tip because waiters make $2.50/hour. The entire system was put into place specifically with tipping in mind. Keep telling yourself whatever you like though bud

So what’s the standard for tipping now, in 2019?
I’m talking about the baseline, where we begin, regardless of how good the service is or the waitresses disposition.
15%

"Here’s a reality check: If you can’t afford to leave a decent tip, then you shouldn’t be at a restaurant to begin with. Remember, most servers make in the neighborhood of $2 per hour,(1) so they’re counting on those tips to make ends meet. Don’t be a cheapskate, be generous!" - Dave Ramsey

poors are bad with money
over tipping is bad money management
you worded the OP poorly, but the premise has merit.

This isn't written in stone or anything but this is generally how I tip:
30%- exceptional
25%- above average
20%- standard
15%- below average
10%- awful
