Someone needs to tell these folks that the "appreciation" part comes from other people. "In honor of national teacher appreciation week, here are all the grades I've taught and all the schools I've worked at" isn't how it's supposed to work

my feelings exactly. This distance learning shite isnt what i went to school for. I love my job and working with kids. They piss me off like no other a good bit but I enjoy it. I would take being back in my class over this crap in a heartbeat.

I was at a hotel in Mobile that had a sign out front that said "A hero works here". We're even praising hotel workers as heroes now.

Honestly it depends on the principal
Most are working more than before and longer
And not getting paid extra or overtime
It’s not ideal but they are still accountable to the school system and they are being monitored closely

I found the old thread with the number we used to negotiate better deals.
I pay by CC automatically and haven't been checking my bill since I was given that discount back in Jan '18. Noticed this month I was being charged same as previously, $240, when I had it down to $105. I've only added one box and one small package that included Smithsonian Channel.
My questions are do you think that number will still work and have you noticed changes in your charges recently? I've been paying over $200 since April of last year.

I honestly don’t know. My bill is back to where it was before the discount, too. My problem is that I have no leverage because I got an equipment upgrade when I installed a TV on my back patio, and I’m now contracted for about another six months. I think I’d give it a try if I were you, though.

I know that East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools just went back this WEEK...have those teachers been drawing a paycheck during the 6 week gap?
I know someone who is a bus driver for the Ascension Parish Public Schools. She has not worked since Mid March but has been getting a full paycheck this entire time.
I understand the OP's point of view, although his delivery may have come accross a little harsh

I’m pretty sure the teachers union covered this type of situation in their collective bargaining agreement, so unless we want to restart negotiations it isn’t worth it. By the time they get out the proper notifications, wait periods, etc. we will be back open.
