I’m a teacher. Your lesson for today, God doesn’t pick up trash.

Everybody I know who works for the state here in Texas is teleworking. None of them are getting paid to sit at home and do nothing.

Then get off your arse and go do it. Why do you have to be a teacher to volunteer?

I agree, Do something if they are currently getting paid. I don’t know if they are or not but if the are they should earn it some way, if not they should be laid off.

He is. It's sad but not surprising that ignorant people like the OP disparage teachers. It's like sick people mocking doctors.

As a teacher or state worker?

Teachers aren't doing shite other than sending a bunch of links to parents.

Between lesson plans & banging students there isn't a whole lot of day left.

My teacher wife (no pics) spends 3 hours daily on zoom sessions with her students, and grades/reviews all of their submitted lessons via google classrooms.

She still has to submit weekly lesson plans.

Meanwhile most of the teachers I know despise this online learning stuff, because there are no standards and most of the kids and their parents don't give AF. Every day my wife says she wishes she was back in her classroom.

Yeah you're an idiot. My wife is a teacher and she's doing more work preparing all these online lessons than she normally would be doing. And let's be real. You WOULD NOT volunteer to pick up trash on the side of the road.

Exactly we have way more work now. Including trying to "shepherd" the students to make sure they log in and are doing the work.

BUT WAIT, they are having to get up by noon to do a 30 minute zoom session with their class once a day now! I mean this is so much more burdensome than having to post a couple of links each week for premade online lessons.
