And if you think about it, why would they go through the trouble of dismembering him and not try and hide the body? He was left out in the woods on the ground in plain sight.

I’ve spent the majority of my life in LA, MS, and TN. How is I never ever met an actual Klansman?
If true you've been fortunate. Of course they don't usually introduce themselves as members and if they ain't hiding behind their hood its hard to identify them on site. This is true outside of LA, MS, TN and the rest of the south. I have lived in the south most of my life, have known many people who claimed to be in the klan, know for certain that family members have been (my great grandfather performed a ritual with me on my 14th birthday where he presented me with a robe and told me it was time to become a man. I call this a white trash bar mitzvah). I have been around a lot of southerners who made no bones about it but by far the worst people I have ever met, and the most universal area for various white supremacists of various stripes, was the Pacific Northwest. Idaho, Oregon, Eastern Washington and Utah is chock bock full of some of the most deranged folks one could ever hope to encounter. Loads of deranged religous types who also happen to despise, openly, anyone who does not think exactly like they do. The really interesting thing is that the area is almost completely white. They can't possibly have much first hand experience with anyone who isn't white. There are some hispanic folks who have been there for several generations but there are almost no black people. The worst mouth breathing racist I ever met in the south who was from the south was my mother's brother, an imperial lizard or whatever they call who it led a well known riot in a county adjacent to Atlanta in the late 80's and went to jail for it and was sued for several million dollars and lost. This dude was ate up with hatred and was active in the white supremacy movement until he died at 60 years of age. As bad as he was he worked every day with black folks and got along more or less with them. He lived in College Park Georgia, an area of Atlanta that is probably majority black...as bad as he was he was able to more or less function amongs black people. He would have been viewed as a progressive hippy in Idaho in 2023. It is BAD. They don't even like white people...within the same family. The PNW is really really horrible....

How would you know? It's not like they walk around in white sheets and hoods.
As far as I am aware I have never met a klansman, but being from Alabama there is a good chance I have unknowingly met one.

There's literally an extremely minute chance that you've met one unless you're 70 years old or older.

As you said, "How would you know?"
Because someone told you there are a bunch of klansmen roaming around in Alabama?

I’m not anywhere close to 70 and I remember the KKK in robes and hoods handing out pamphlets at the highway intersection outside my parents’ subdivision in the mid-1970s.

We know it's a hoax, but the snow flake race needs their crutches and white bogey men. To blame.

Just read about this yesterday and was intrigued.
He had only come to town less than a week prior, so hard to imagine much time to have riled up gangs of locals.
The boss, forced to leave town and now in hiding, says he's given copies of text message exchanges with Carter and were all cordial even friendly, no indication of anything problematic.
Apparently he went to the Taylorsville police station the evening before he went missing (Oct 1) talking about being chased and asked for a ride to his hotel in Laurel, but they couldn't or wouldn't bring him that far. He returned the next morning for some reason, then left and was was not seen again until the game cam footage was discovered later.
There's a ton of unsubstantiated stuff coming from his family that if proven could put a new light on case, but for now it's hard to weigh and sounds kinda wild. For example, they claim his credit card was used the day or so after his disappearance but it appears that this hasn't been proven to police or media, which would be a pretty significant showing between accidental death and murder.
They apparently have their own PI and or medical examiner that have come up with some interesting details. For example they claim "that his severed penis was found decomposed in his mouth," and other things, most of which are unsubstantiated or have other possible explanations.
It's pretty hard to say but it's getting to the point that someone is doing something bad, either the killer(s) if there are such, the police, or the family. Even knowing the location of his remains would be helpful because i'm wondering if it was SE of Taylorsville it may suggest that he was having a mental problem and tried walking back to Laurel and got lost. His Mother said she sent someone to pick him up from the police station that morning but when they got there he was gone. Not sure why he wouldn't wait as he had no other options. So yeah either severe mental episode leading to being lost in woods, or abducted and killed for some reason.
Mother Jones has a story on it that is detailed but also chock full of speculation and red herring.

No construction boss would kill a worker just cause they didn't see eye to eye. He'd either just fire him or call the hall to get him replaced. If he was going to have one of his workers killed, he wouldn't get 3 truck loads of people to go kill him, talk about witnesses to keep quiet and forensic evidence for days with that amount of people involved in a crime scene. #1 reason murder for hire plots don't work is people cant keep their mouth shut. Especially a bunch of construction workers, if you've ever been around a group of them they're like a bunch of high school girls gossiping.
the dude clearly had some kind of mental break or something.

Honestly I don't think there's enough white people in Mississippi that could even self-motivate to do a supposed "lynching" anymore. Did it happen back in the day? Obviously yes. Today - nah. Racism still exists but this story is a bunch of horseshite.

My cousin got methed out and called his brother spouting the same non sense about people coming to get him and that he needed weapons and back up. He too was out in a random location in a field. He's in jail now, which is better than dead in a field, but there's plausibility in a methed/drugged out stupor ending up dead in a field.

I don't know the secret handshake or anything, but I did meet a guy who claimed to be a Klansman. He was the husband of an employee, he had not worked in decades. The KKK ID was battered and torn, but he was proud of it. They lived in a trailer park in Westwego, his wife often showed up for work bruised up, but she wouldn't talk about it.
One night he beat her to the point she had to be hospitalized, that was his arse, he went to prison and she fled the state.

this type of behavior is pretty common for people with severe schizophrenia.
Crazy that so many people really, really desire for this to be an actual lynching, but do not bat an eye towards all of the many instances of black on black crime. Or black on any race crime.
