Was working for a family member, a job I was working ended so he was going to have me work for this slimeball dude. I told him I wasn’t working for slimeball, he told me to carry my arse. He was a damn good dude and we never had a cross word over it.

dude was quitting on good terms, he took his company credit card and bought his wife a diamond ring. turned in his last expense report and didnt report the personal expense

because the company credit statement was a month behind, he got his final paycheck with PTO and everything. they contacted him about the purchase and he ghosted them, so they called the sheriff. he re-paid the $6k and avoided jail

another guy was working for two competing companies at the same time. he worked offshore for both companies, had two crown vic company cars. one navy blue, one white and he would always keep them both in the garage.

he got caught when he was offshore for company 1 (white car) and his boss from company 1 went to his house to get something out of his garage and the other company car (blue car) was sitting there with his company 2 hardhat on the backseat. he almost went to jail, had to pay a settlement

guy was running the yard in south texas, his wife was the office manager. she would create dummy invoices for companies their family members owned. he would issue POs and get the invoices paid. That was $800k, they got busted by a vendor audit and the company placed a lien on his house.

guy was in charge of scrapping old equipment, he would routinely put it on the scrap list and sell it on tge weekends. he got greedy and scrapped a still used high pressure vessel still on the depreciation schedule. moving the, thing was a permitted load. he sold it to a scrap guy, the guy illegally moved it on a weekend and stuck it in his scrap yard. Area manager was driving to work and saw the top of it (it was huge and bright orange) and pulled in to the scrap yard. Scrap guys gets nervous and rats out his accomplice. They had already started cutting on it and it was so thick they gave up. We had to pay a third party hauler to get it on a permitted load and take it to a proper scrap yard.

I have dozens of them. the O&G chemical business is full of dirty birds

During college I worked for awhile at a large department store in mens clothing. Had a coworker who was bad off...sober maybe one or two days a week. He'd come in speeding on meth for a couple days, and like clockwork the following day he'd be bombed out on Xanax. On his "speed days" it was a sight to behold. Sweating profusely, zipping around everywhere, talking a mile a minute, crazy eyed, to stunned old ladies just trying to decide which shirt to buy their husband. The "coming down" days he was a complete zombie. Several times we found him asleep in one of the dressing rooms. Once I even found him passed out, laid out in between clothing racks right out on the floor. I was always amazed at how that stuff never got him fired. I later found out he came from a pretty well off connected family, and was probably the reason. What did get him fired was one night after closing we're all walking out the back door toward the parking lot and the off duty police officer / security guard told him to take off his sport coat. When he did about a half dozen rolled up Tommy Hilfiger polos fell out on the floor. Arrested on the spot. Cop told me later they suspected he'd been doing it for awhile but they couldn't catch him. Sadly a few years later I heard he OD'd and died.

Reading this thread confirms my thoughts. Many times , the only way to lose a job is a reduction in force (RIF) or blatantly violating company policy. I believe most folks could stay employed for years at a large company simply by staying low. These HR departments in mega companies make it impossible to run someone off other than the above mentioned reasons.

Was he not supposed do that? Because if they’d told him it wasn’t allowed, he wouldn’t have.

Hot receptionist at a plant orders a rubber dong and has it sent to her at work. She opens the package and shows her surrounding co-workers what she got. Someone complains, and she is reprimanded. She files a Title VII charge with the EEOC asserting sex discrimination. She also contends her privacy was invaded. Needless to say, nothing ever happened with the charge.

Train nerd is photographing trains behind the plant where he works. The company's owner comes up in his truck and asks "what are you doing back here?" The nerd did not know what the owner looked like as he no longer actively managed the business.

Instead of explaining what he was doing, the train nerd smarts off to the man and tells him "I'm allowed to be here and you need to mind your own f'in business." So, the owner calls the rollers.

He lost his job on Monday.

I knew a guy that got fired, but everyone was very hush hush about what happened. But the senior guys in his group agreed he had to go.

Anyway, he had verbal offers from other places, pending what his regulatory paper work said on firing. Apparently it was bad and those offers fell through.

He landed at a smaller shop that DGAF, but we later found out that idiot told a female intern “I bet you’ll get a full time offer if we go in that closet and frick”. No idea how that idiot explained that one to his wife…

Nothing too crazy, but I've seen many coworkers get belligerent during company trips and they ended up getting fired

Worked in financial services for a while and had a guy make up his entire background. Fake degrees, handmade diploma and all. Only got found out bc he had gotten drunk at a conference and told another employee… who was a compliance officer

I was always amazed how, with all the regulations in that job, something as brazen as that could slip by.

Wasn’t a firing but I worked for an engineering firm out of college and one day we come in and there is a used condom on the ground by the admin desk so nobody touches it. Then it was noticed that the admins desk which was one those glossy wood desks had butt prints and hand prints on it when you looked at it at the right light angle. The guy who we later found out did it walks in and was like what’s everyone doing? And we said there’s a used condom on the floor and he goes oh that’s weird and picks it up and throws it away like it was nothing. The company found out it was him because he was the only one that used his badge to badge in at 1am on a Tuesday

My first job out of LSU was a small, 200ish employee manufacturing company. Apparently, right before I started, one of the sales guys who had been lying about an LSU degree of his own was busted trying to forge his diploma on his work computer. The key loggers caught him. He put up good numbers so he got to stay. My first day making the rounds and meeting everyone, his fellow salesmen said “great, another LSU grad!” right in front of him

I have no doubt he posts here.
