Give them time. Last time it happened was 2009, and the predictions was it wasn't supposed to change direction again for another 35 years. Since it just changed 14 years later, that means we aren't doing enough to combat global warming and the earth's lifecycle is shrinking.

If the earth was an apple, the deepest hole ever dug would not pierce the skin of the apple. We have no clue what is deep at the core of earth.

The only satisfying end to this weird movie we all seem to be in would be some sort of sci-fi scenario where aliens use the Earth's core as a control for the surface and certain spin combos do certain things, including annihilation.
Then we'd have to send some baws down there to hack the core and get it spinning the right way.

ETA: I find it fascinating that the pole reversal of earth's magnetic field unlocked the mystery of sea floor spreading and resulting continental drift. Really incredible stuff discovered in relatively recent history.
