1966 US Navy stationed in Greece making $65 / month. Saved to go to Red Light district. Found a place called Cleopatra's and spent all but $2. Found a room at 2 am for $2. Nasty bug filled room -- no pillow or running water.

Woke in Morning and my empty wallet stolen. Washed face in street cleaner water. Virtually nobody spoke English and didn t give a shite I was broke and hungry. Traded my shoes to a cab driver for trans to the Embassy. Three hours later Navy picked me up and took to base 30 miles away. Spent next 30 days restricted to base. Saved 2 more months and went back to Cleopatra's.

A few times:

-buying pork and beans in a can for dinner in college, bc it was 25 cents a can

-also college. Did not have money for chicken so shot a squirrel for Sunday gumbo

-in Wales. Buses were not running so tried to hitch to next town (did not work). Spent last pound on a pint at a roadside pub as I hiked 20 miles

1998

Had lost my job and sold everything I had.

Last POS pistol I owned and got someone to give me 100 for it. Bought groceries and gas and went to work at the bottom of where I am now. Vowed never to be broke again.

Senior year. Bank account on empty. I washed my roommates car for $5 to go to Kenny Roger’s to get something to eat.

rokest, ever? shite I remember one point in college, my bank would let you overdraw your account up to like 300 dollars. I took out the 300 when I had around 10 dollars. The overdraft charge made it about negative 325 dollars. I just abandoned that account and opened a new one at a different bank and paid the original bank back about six years later.

So to answer your question the brokest I've ever been was about $-325 or so.

Was coming to post the exact same thing. Except, I never paid it back.
Sorry Hancock, Regions, and Chase in BR.

Not broke, but I had some cc balances with Bank of America. Well they kept lower my line of credit and screwing up my minimum payments. Finally I knuckled down stop spending, created a spread sheet with all my revolving debt. Eventually paid them off, then used the same cash I was paying monthly to pay off car.
I destroy all cc offers

Down to my last 10 bucks and a gold wedding ring. A friend told me that's when life is over. I told him no, that's when life reallly begins.

First divorce, when I came home from a inconus deployment to find my bank account had 200 bucks no where to go, nothing. I lived in my office for about 3 weeks till my chief told me I had to find somewhere. I lived off the chicken pot pies.

I can’t imagine why

Say what? If you are Inside the Continental United States that is not a "deployment."

Mid 80's. a pack of smokes was a little over $1 and the Schaffer light was always on sale for around $1.19, plus tax.
