Got a buddy and his fam trying to get from Metairie to Gulf Shores. Are there gas stations available on the Northshore (Cov, Dell, Mandeville)?

I'm sure those companies offer disaster response pay.

I can’t tell for sure, but assume the drone footage in Laplace is a subdivision north of Airline Hwy.

Also…a lot of structures on Grand Isle were build after Katrina and Rita. So they meet the new building codes.

Probably a dumb question, but I assume you simply can't get insurance on a house in a place like GI that'll cover a hurricane, right?

So these folks who build the $1 million houses, are they just uber rich and don't care if it gets destroyed?

AT&T is such shite.

After years of suffering under those guys and being charged for items we never even owned we left them and went to Verizon and got a business account. Both cell phones and Internet. So much better.

Also waiting for the River to come down. Live on the Bogue Falaya by Camp Covington. Has risen to the second highest in our 42 years here. But it looks like it’s peaked and it’s going down.

Considering the predicated storm surge and 140 mph winds, Grand Isle faired incredibly well. But to be honest, I tend to compare Louisiana coastal communities to Holly Beach after Rita.

yea but all those camps on holly beach and the houses in cameron were really built before codes. the big houses on holly beach fared better during laura because of the codes and being 20' off the ground.

laura's surge going east into creole and rutherford beach helped too as they really only got 10'-12' at holly beach but took the full brunt of the 150 mph winds.

looks like same case in grand isle. new camps faired well against the wind and ida didnt have the surge that katrina, rita, ike or laura had and they were high enough to withstand it.

but overall GI is pretty devastated. not compeltely wiped off but still terrible.

Why would you assume that?

With the widespread power outages across our area, it will be much easier to get heat stress. We have lowered heat advisory criteria to heat index values of 100 degrees, which we can expect tomorrow for our area. Be sure to know the signs of heat illness. #mswx #lawx LINK

This is very good advice. You folks down there starting the cleanup process be sure to watch yourselves, and particularly watch any elderly people who are around. We can forget to take care of ourselves when stress builds up like it has.
