Does anyone know how Lakeview is doing? Have a buddy in West End (?) on hay place and Fleur De Lis Drive, non raised house. They evacuated but wondering if the house got any bad flooding.

Really wanting to head back to Louisiana from Florida to my parents house in BR and then from there go to my house in Old Metairie. Concerned if we can get back to BR from Florida because i can’t tell how up to date the 511 website
There's a pinned thread on this board with road closures and updates. It may be of some help.

Man GI doesn’t look that bad. They must build those houses like a brick shithouse
I mentioned it this morning and caught some flak, but anything built in Grand Isle in the last 2-3 decades is a fortress for the most part. There isn’t a place in the state that’s more equipped to handle that kind of wind and water.
The only problem is the road.

Got a report from a buddy who stayed in a CBD hotel last couple nights. Sounded like a complete shitshow and I now believe a few of those Katrina stories. Wow

Just saw a new full island flyover video on FB, there's so much damage. Full camps are just gone

My inlaws live right there and it sounds like a bunch of roof damage but not much flooding

bro one thing i have learned through this and laura
standing seam metal roof is the way to go
also of you do hurricane clips on all studs and angle bracing between studs and top/bottom plates makes a huge difference in the house surviving or not. outside of full concrete I think that is the best bet along with making sure the anchor bolts on the raised houses are either J-bolts or are epoxyied in to max depth. oh and anchor bolts need to be 1.5" or larger. all of that shite makes huge huge difference.

I think once things get rebuilt/shored up this time, the biggest threat on GI will just be the ground washing out from underneath everything.

I would have rather rode it out in Grand Isle

care to share?
Sure.
Generator failed so backup generator could only be used to power halls and lobby. This meant no doors could be locked and everything was pitch black. People coming in and out. Said drug deals in the staircases that they had to use since the power situation. People on oxygen using all the power plugs on lobby floor.

I will add to this. I know of one non-raised older home in lakeview (across west end) that got water inside

Extensive damage. Not livable. Tree crushed our rooms. So thankful that we left

How long will it take to get a new roof? 3-6 months?

But with major power issues now being faced by Nola, isn't the sewage issue going to be a major one?
shite and piss in the streets is nothing new for Nola tbh
Sewer system goes down because the city only had backup generators at 8 out of 48 sewage pumping stations => more people pissing in public => more pissing in public fines => NOLA having more $$$ available to purchase backup generators for the 40 pumping stations that did not have backup generators and/or more money for the politicians to steal. Damn I never realized that LaToya was that smart.
