Extensive damage. Not livable. Tree crushed our rooms. So thankful that we left
I’m sorry to hear that man, but that’s the right attitude. Be thankful to be alive.

Hell that road is in better shape today than 75% of the roads in Arkansas

I wanted to make a gif, but the video is too long.

For posterity, here is a 24-h+ loop of #Ida making landfall in Louisiana. You can see the attempt of an ERC right before landfall & very slow decay moving over the marshes of SE LA. The eye also remained distinct up until moving poleward of #NewOrleans. A devastating storm. LINK

Considering the predicated storm surge and 140 mph winds, Grand Isle faired incredibly well. But to be honest, I tend to compare Louisiana coastal communities to Holly Beach after Rita.

quote:general psa: you can get in touch to cellphones via email if you know their number and carrier (the carrier converts the email to a text)
I can get ATT to work via iMessage but that’s it right now. No texts to Androids
For example, ATT use 10 digit number @txt.att.net
For Verizon it’s the 10 digit number @ vtext.com
May be helpful in edge cases

This should be stickied all by itself.

Considering the wind, Ida had less surge than I thought.
Also…a lot of structures on Grand Isle were build after Katrina and Rita. So they meet the new building codes.

The first response to the group of people looting a beauty supply store...

200k people are stuck there with no electricity for at least the next 5 days. If they take food from stores that can't be open anyway, they are just doing it to eat

I hate the looting discussions, because it is one reason people stay behind when they shouldn't.
You steal something after a storm that isnt to sustain or protect your life, you get prosecuted to the full extent of law. Pretty simple.
