Anyone else encouraged that it hasn't strengthened? It was supposed to be a 4 by now and it's still a 2.
That's deceiving because we haven't had recon until now. Recon is catching up now and is verifying what everyone is seeing on all the imagery.

It won’t be good for anybody between BR and NOLA. Minimum Gustav for BR and a slightly less Katrina for NOLA.
Gustav gusted up to 91. If we’re only getting gusts of 70-75 (or less), we’ll probably come out ok.

Give it an hour

If our parents weren’t here, we would’ve already left. There’s not many redeeming qualities about this state.

It’s strengthening as we type. Will be a 4 by next update.

I absolutely won’t do this a third time. If this absolutely wrecks the entire SE region I’ll move my family somewhere else. It’ll suck and I’ll miss every second of my hometown and my life, but I can’t do this again. I still have some kind of PTSD from Katrina. And I’m about to re-live it.

Extrapolated pressure is 954MB which is about 10 since last fix. It’s currently dropping 3mb an hour. That is very impressive. This could easily hit 930’s or 920’s at this rate.
Oh my gosh, this is so freaking bad

After being on the west side of both Laura and Delta last year I hope your right. I’m only about 20 miles closer to the coast than BR.

Can you STFU? Giving people WRONG information is so beyond irresponsible. BR will absolutely be in the thick of it & I would bet this is 10x worse than Gustav.

955 a solid 3. Measured. 10mb away from a 4. At 3 mb/hour, you do the math.
Cat 4 (hopefully not stronger) when everyone wakes up and then panic sets in.. this is bad news folks
If anyone has a choice to stay or leave, IMO you really should leave now or soon if you are anywhere near the coast.

We dont do category by pressure, but by max sustained winds.

Any chance we can catch Ida in an ERC as she makes landfall helping weaken it faster?

Gustav was also at a time when the ground was saturated. I'm not sure how that is in Louisiana right now because up until this month it seemed like it rained everyday. The past month has been more normal pattern but we definitely have to be way above the average for this year? I'm not sure how saturated the grounds are but I'd guess it's not too bad it has been more normal pattern past month?

At 10:00 am this morning the prediction was that the storm would be 115mph at 10;00 pm. They were wrong it was 105.
At midnite it appears it is 115 mph or stronger. They weren’t that far off. Two hours,
It’s a dangerous situation. Too many went to bed after the news believing it’s a cat 2 and they may wake up and be very surprised.
It’s no time to write this off.

Amen. And as much as it would suck to take my kids from their grandparents and not see my family, I’m finally coming around to the idea that it might be worth it. I’ll probably have to take my inlaws with me.
