Seems like every update shows lower winds for BR. Just said gusts 70-75. Down from 110 to 90 to 80.
makes sense as the storm will now be east of BR - much weaker weather will be on the west side of the storm especially that far inland.

~105-110 mph in the SE eyewall, and these were not on the strongest side of the storm (north and northeast).

So it’s officially a steady 3 right now. Maybe close to a 4 depending on what the stormger winds look like and it still has time to grow a little. fricking wonderful news. I’m not sleeping .

BR will be ok (as in not destroyed). The really bad stuff seems to be going south and east.

So dumb question but as far as safe room in a two story do you wanna be on the first floor or second ?

As long as you aren't expected to flood and flood quickly, first floor.

Extrapolated pressure is 954MB which is about 10 since last fix. It’s currently dropping 3mb an hour. That is very impressive. This could easily hit 930’s or 920’s at this rate.

Pretend I have no idea what this means and then explain it for me. You know, so everyone else can understand please

In a tropical cyclone central pressure dropping indicates a strengthening storm. Wind fields lag behind pressure drops some so it’s hard to say when the winds will catch up but dropping pressure is not a good thing if you are in south louisana

It won’t be good for anybody between BR and NOLA. Minimum Gustav for BR and a slightly less Katrina for NOLA.

The eye is definitely tracking south or west of the forecast track now. Been like that for a few frames so I’m wondering if it’s going to be a trend or not. I think even if it started going in the original direction again, it’ll end up a few miles west which would mean more for Baton Rouge.

955 a solid 3. Measured. 10mb away from a 4. At 3 mb/hour, you do the math.

Anyone else encouraged that it hasn't strengthened? It was supposed to be a 4 by now and it's still a 2.

yeah I am. Seems like it’ll be around a cat 2 when the center is closest to me. Maybe I’m wrong tho.

I noted that trend a couple of pages back. Could be a wobble as they say but it sure isn't going up the Mississippi
