Lake Charles didn't see 130 mph winds.
Gusts? Yes. Sustained was 100 mph. Cat 2 conditions.
What people need to remember is Cat 2 conditions will frick stuff up because 100 with gusts 130+ will frick stuff up.
Oh I’m not disagreeing with you Duke. But a few pages back someone posted wind potentials of 130+ in BR with no explanation. It had Lake Chuck with 100 possible. The National Weather Service estimates are nowhere near that, even gusts.
There used to be some dude on Facebook that had a page called like “Louisiana Hurricane Center” that people would share and repost all the time. The guy basically took NWS forecasts and reported along with every doomcasting article or blog he could find. Dude was not a meteorologist nor affiliated with any official service. But people shared that shite like it was gospel.

I'll do you one better. Homeboy in shreveport filling up 5 gas cans..
Maybe he's bringing it back when he goes back in? I did that for Laura. Left with two cans in case but 5 more empties. Gased up on my way back.

At this point in a hurricane thread, I'm not really responding to an individual poster. Well, you know, not when I'm making a weather point at least.

One thing I'm looking/concerned about, particularly if the Eastern jog holds, is that some areas are going to see the training bands of rain initially. Then as Ida makes its Eastern turn over land there's a good chance we see multiple bands drag across the same areas. Those may catch some folks off guard and will just add to the rain totals.

Starts a bit easy but ends up essentially in the same spot. At this point it seems like specific landfall location will depend on which wobble we are on.

Is wobble on the bingo card?
Posted on 8/28/21 at 1:07 pm to Zach Lee To Amp Hill
He was probably posting as the track was updating. I’m assuming it started a little east but ultimately ends in the same place.

#Ida is wobbling a bit between our hourly check-ins, but is holding pretty steady overall. Wandering closer to the E edge of the guidance envelope.
This might shave off a few hrs it could have had over the Gulf, but puts the core closer to NOLA. LINK

Just came in from Lake Long setting some catfish nets. Breezy, heavy rain at times.
Quite exhilarating to be running around out there with the storm weather. I didn’t see another boat.

They want Nola to just have the eye right over that city. The track is gonna go just east of Baton Rouge. No way the eye is going over NOLA. And I hope it doesn’t since that idiot didn’t evacuate the city.

I really like Jack's "cone", might be a useful tool going forward in the thread.

Duke,
Could you please post here and tell my wife we are safe north of LC.
She is still begging me to keep one room and I don't feel like spending more $$ on a room we're not going to be in

#Ida continues to intensify, with an eye now beginning to clear out on satellite imagery. We won't get a new recon aircraft for another few hours, but max winds are now estimated near 100 mph.
The track has also wobbled slightly to the right (NE). We'll see if that continues.

How long does an ERC typically take?
Posted on 8/28/21 at 1:11 pm to Bigfishchoupique
What is the order for updating Track / Speed? 7 and 1 is Track and 4 and 10 is speed?

“Tropical Storm Central”
He’s one of the ones that actual meteorologist tell people to stop following because they’re fear porn posters. Tell him he’s full of shite one time and his army of plebes defend him like a cult. Idiots.
