We need another bridge, but everything else you said is completely wrong. This project, if it truly starts at the bride and goes to the split, will provide noticeable positive impact from Day 1 that it opens. It would be one of the best possible ways to spend roadway funds.

Seems like the better method is to build a loop then come back and do this project as to not have a huge effect on traffic for 10 years with construction.

But this is Louisiana.

It will still be a choke point where people wreck and traffic will be just as fricked up as it is now.

We can’t just wait forever for the billion dollars another bridge would cost plus the multiple billions for a loop around the city. We said no to the gas tax. This is probably the best option.

I'm officially looking for a job in Lafayette.

The one thing I liked about my job was my commute which, believe it or not, hardly ever had traffic.

Son of a bitch.

Just laughed on the news when they were talking about it “a study showed that widening the interstate would reduce traffic”

Well no shite. Who the frick got paid to conduct that study ?

Will this be finished before or after the loop?

You must commute at odd hours.

Can we provide an elevated bypass on I12 that empties at Walker?

Essen, Airline interchanges need congestion relief

1 The MRB expansion of 4 lanes each way all the way to 22 on I 10(currently they plan to stop at 73 and only do 3 lanes. )

2. the creation of a bypass at 61 that streches from the Old Bridge to I-10(Grammercy Exit) (This was actually the original plan in late 1950s before 110 was settled upon for money reasons).

3. Then A New Bridge in Plaquemine that ties into a new Bluff Road Interchange at 10 or a major Flyover at 73@10.

Problems will be solved. 1 at a time.

Had to have a Dem Governor and Dem Mayor before it was politically feasible to shut down the Washington Street exit.

I'm willing to bet federal funds are included. Louisiana just can't take federal funds and spend them on whatever project they want. They are earmarked for that purpose. Spend them widening 10 or lose them.

And I'm sure widening 10 is much cheaper than a loop or a new bridge. It may not be what everyone wants, but it's a start.

If they added an exit on I-110S to Terrace St. this wouldn't be an issue.

The most important question is what color will the PVC pipe be?

Add another bridge near plaquemine. Make it a toll bridge till it is paid for.

Plaquemine Point between Plaquemine and Dow is the ideal place for a new bridge.

6 lanes with a rail line down the middle.
