I think the word "Karen" is now officially retired and its replacement is hereby officially decreed as "Mandie". Her parents clearly thought using "ie" instead of "y" was important.
Mandy Landry = two "y"'s and you can't have two "Y"'s in your name so the first "Y" is changed to "IE" pursuant to the rules in the English language. Hence Mandie Landry was born because no one would elect a Mandy Landry except as a homecoming queen.
