Teke, you seem to be very knowledgeable about how EBR parish finances work. If these groups by law get 55% of the GF, is there a law that dictates what goes into the general fund?
Do SG sales taxes, license fees, etc. have to go into the GF?
BR has longed bragged about the class 1 fire rating which saves BR property owners thousands of dollars. Would it be safe to say BR property owners have been saving thousands at SG's expense?

The math I did upthread suggests that BRPD is getting about $16m a year, give or take, from St George.
I highly doubt BR is paying that much to EBRSO given the way parish bills are paid with the unincorporated areas covering something like 75-100% of most costs depending on the line item.

I don’t know about license fees but all sales taxes from unincorporated areas, be it St George, Pride, etc, goes straight into the general fund.
I think it is safe to say BR has been saving money at St George’s expense, though the amount in question has varied over time.
In general, the unincorporated areas weren’t that significant in 1980 when the merger happened, but most growth in the parish after that date happened in those areas.
With the growth happening outside BR but the tax money still being used for BR’s benefits, they were able to heavily subsidize the services for residents in BR proper at the expense of the unincorporated areas.

BR’s city limits are also extremely gerrymandered for two reasons:
1. Voting rights act prevents them from annexing areas with more wypipo than the demographics within the city limits
2. City attempts to annex only commercial property to reap the sales tax revenue without having to provide the services.

The only confirmed notes are that SWB and Lamont have standing while ME Cormier does not.
