The average folk of Baton Rouge are blessedly unburdened from the complications of paying for anything they consume other than narcotics. I pray that the Covid 19 virus passes them over, but I also anxiously await the train wreck that will be the local government when the chaos begins. It will be an epic disaster.

OK thanks for explaining. I thought it was a done deal we rode around some after church and saw a st George fore station and were surprised to see the lil burb coming to life. We go to HPC on highland road rode around the area waiting for the rush to clear at our burger stand and actually saw some ST George signs and such as outsiders we were surprised and amused

I don’t understand what you are asking. I don’t understand what services we are not getting. When I go in BR I am getting police protection service.
So if you are being mugged and a city police officer is standing there, it’s ok for him to tell you call EBRSO? Same with a STG situation.
I believe way more StG people occupy the city throughout the day than EBR does in StG.

Tara’s already in Baton Rouge. They would have to go through a petition process and then get it on the ballot. I think the petition would have to be something like 1/3 the registered voters in the area would have to request it.

If you live in BR, would you want to pay for STG services that aren't provided to you? This is the exact same thing that STG residents have been doing in BR for years. It's not that difficult to understand.

I can’t tell exactly based on the map but more areas than them would clearly need to leave BR since they aren’t touching the current borders.
My best guess would be that the neighborhood along Drusilla between Jefferson and Old Hammond would have to leave as well for there to be a way to make it work.

Sales tax is collected by businesses depending on the point of sale, a geographic location. Fire and police protection is based on geographic location as well, and they are funded by sales taxes.
The St. Georgian spends money at the restaurant downtown. Sales taxes from that transaction fund fire and police protection around that restaurant.

Those people are paying for their services many times over with sales tax collected from them - or did you think that St G residents automatically have their taxes sent to St G when they bought a steak in BR?

To be fair, I believe some percent of funding for the Sheriffs may come from taxes collected in the city.

Except the sheriff services the whole parish, not just the unincorporated areas, and the way the budget rules are written makes the unincorporated areas pay the lion’s share of all parish functions including the sheriff.
BR can have their share of what they pay for EBRSO back if StG gets their portion of BRPD and BRFD funding back.

We actually do. Taxes collected statewide pay for state police to patrol tourist areas inside the city limits of New Orleans
